Customer Reviews of This Album/CD

The best album of 2000
Submitted on: 2009-09-21
If you were to ask a hip-hop fan what he/she thought was the best album of 2000, I would guess about 99/100 will say one of three things: Common's "Like Water for Chocolate", Outkast's "Stankonia", or (mostly) Eminems "Marshall Mathers LP". While those three are also good, that 1/100 person who says "Supreme Clientele!" (this must be exclaimed with a pride reserved for those of a self proclaimed higher knowledge and understanding) is correct. Why? Who knows?! This album is simply a work of genius, unique and inimitable. I absolutely despised this album when I first heard it... about a month later, it was one of my favorite albums of all time, and still is. Why did this happen? I don't know. That's what makes "Supreme Clientele" brilliant.
MIGHT HEALTHY TRACK STRAIGHT FIRE

THIS ALBUM IS TIGHT....AFTER IRONMAN I DIDN'T GHOST HAD IT IN HIM TO PUT OUT A GREAT LIST OF SONGS LIKE THESE, A LOT OF BANGERS ON THIS ONE. GREAT PRODUCTION AND AS ALWAYS GHOST'S SUPER AWESOME ECCENTRIC FLOW...THE BEST TRACK ON HERE BY FAR IS "MIGHTY HEALTHY"...A SICK A$$ LOOP OF PIANO JINGLES COUPLED WITH MIGHTY BASS DRUMS...IF YOU ARE GONNA TRY TO LISTEN TO ONE TRACK, MAKE IT THAT ONE
Ghostface Killah - Supreme Clientele - 3.75 stars

I like the CD; it's a solid performer. That said, there are definitely some of the tracks here. But when you're pumping out as many CDs as Ghost is, how can there NOT be some filler tracks? It is important to note that a filler tracks on a Ghost release mean uninspired beats because you always get tight lyrics. Some of the better tracks include: One
Ghost Deini (a different mix than the free version available from WuTangCorp.com)
Apollo Kids
Buck 50 - This beat is ill to the bone; Meth, Ghost, Redman and Capadonna tear it up
Mighty Healthy
Cherchez LaGhost - I'm not really feeling this track, but its one of the top Ghostface downloaded tracks.
Wu Banga 101 - Any track with a Wu conglomerate is gonna be slamming. This one features GZA, Ghost, Raekwon, Capadonna, and Masta Killa.

If you compare Supreme Clientele straight up against Ironman, I think Supreme Clientele is better beginning to end although Ironman has better singles (particularly one of the best East-Coast Hip-Hop hits of all time in Winter Warz).

Ghost really bookends the movies well with the vintage `60's Ironman cartoon intro and conclusion tracks.
Should've been a Diamond Seller.

This is a great album. It should have sold 10 million. If you want a hip-hop album, buy this album.

I mean, really, all the reviews here pretty much sum up the album. Ghostface Killah's sophomore effort is on par with all the Wu Tang solo debuts -- Liquid Swords, Cuban Linx, Tical, etc. Though you'd guess the opposite, RZA only contributes two tracks to the entire album. Surprisingly, the production is handled by several other producers -- some in house, others not. The likes of Black-Moes-Art, Inspectah Deck, The Beatnuts, Carlos "Six July" Broady, Ron Banks, Mathematics, Hasan, The Blaquesmiths, and a couple others all contribute excellent beats to the album. There really isn't much to get into from there if you're at all familiar with Wu Tang emcees and their particular styles. Tony Starks' outrageous slang is in its peak form here and the guest appearances are all great.

As far as flaws, well, really, I can't think of any. I mean, some could go on about the skits but, personally, I loved them all -- especially the Clyde Smith skit where he disses 50 Cent. Hilarious stuff, man.

Anyway, Supreme Clientele should be in your collection if you're at all familiar with the Wu. The production is classic Wu even without RZA producing the bulk of it and Brother Starks was on top of his game and razor sharp when he dropped this joint. I highly, highly recommend adding this album to your music library.

Standout Tracks: Cherzchez LaGhost feat. U God, Ghost Deini feat. Superb, Mighty Healthy, One, Saturday Nite, Wu Banga 101 feat. GZA, Raekwon, Cappadonna, & Masta Killah, Nutmeg feat. RZA, and Buck 50 feat. Cappadonna, Method Man, Masta Killah, & Redman
