A slap-in-your-face Italian electro-rap classic! Submitted on: 2003-03-21 |

| A classic account from the 99 Posse, a group largely unheard of outside their native Italy due to singing in their own...dialect. Blasting rhythmic, uncompromising rap lyrics on a musical electro background the Posse is a group the listener will remember, whether or not in command of the Italian language. Lead singer 'O Zulu's spitting lyrics goes straight to the throat of a wide range of themes reflected in their songs -- corruption, poverty, lying politicians, the Mafia, violence and struggle against the Oppressor, the Italian state and its affiliates. To end the record there is a brilliant rendition of "El Pueblo Unido". This powerhouse of a recording is one you will play over and over again and one whose rhythm and power will drag your behind out of the sofa and onto the dance floor. A comparison with names such as Rage against the Machine certainly holds up -- the sincerity and anger of the "Novantanove" comes second to no one. |

The Art of Vida Submitted on: 2001-06-19 |

| After years of rap and an excellent album of experimentation for the group, 99 Posse has an album that blends all of their artistry. The lyrics are poetic if not poetry set to a beat that ranges from Latin or African to fast dance. The mix between the varied musical instruments, electronic instruments, and voices of the group give off a sound that can take you on a tour of the mind and soul. This is an album that is sorely lacking in many a private collection. |
