Rhea's Obsession clearly wasn't messing around when they made Between Earth And Sky. Few times has a CD left me completely speechless throughout the entire listen but Between Earth And Sky did just that. Each song is so thick with beauty that it's easy to feel overwhelmed. Sue has a terrific voice that takes you places and Jim creates a soundscape that envelopes you entirely.
I tend to take Between Earth And Sky as a journey rather than dissecting into standout tracks since each song flows so gorgeously into the next. Sure there's songs that are more solid than the next but it's so easy to just lose yourself when you listen to this CD that those less than stellar tracks don't even matter. Much like The Gathering, Rhea's Obsession creates an experience more than a CD.
Between Earth And Sky is heavy on electronic influence thanks to Jim, and Sue's distorted vocal stylings only sets the mood further in a few songs. At times it feels as if you're listening to NIN's The Fragile. It's clear that this CD might not be for everyone but those who are even thinking about buying it should definitely get it. No review will properly prepare you for what you'll hear, this CD is almost beyond description. Moongoddess got the closest I feel however.
My favorite songs are Mortal Ground, Dreaming Blade, Between Earth & Sky, Mahakala, and Delusion. Like I said, I recommend listening to this as a whole rather than skipping through. It's such a rewarding and captivating experience that I guarantee you won't regret it. It's been a long time since a CD has changed the way I look at music but Rhea's Obsession has. Definitely hope to hear more from them in the future. |

Rhea's Obsession : "Between Earth And Sky" Submitted on: 2006-03-24 |

This is a very interesting listen. I was expecting something heavier, but I was still impressed with the overall originality of "Between Earth And Sky"....
I must also confess I had never heard of Rhea's Obsession until reading the other reviews here, and I was not misleadby them, this is a fine offering and something unique to the ears. This is almost like Disco Tech Metal if there is such a classification? It's synths are abundant, but there's also guitars riffs crunching in the background. Did I mention this is an interesting listen???...
The vocals are very nice, and soothing to the listener. A smooth, silky feel is what I'm recieveing here. Not much unlike Theatre Of Tragedy's "Aegis" and vocalist L. Kristin. Beautifully executed. Although I could have used alittle more Metal feel{just my taste}, I'm highly satisfied with this because of it's unique originality... |

Disapointed Submitted on: 2006-03-23 |

| I was very disapointed. The women can't sing. They sounded very cheesy and bland. Every now and then you night hear a sound that hits the spot, but most of the time tumbs down.. They got old real quick. I don't really think I will be listening to this album much at all. Don't waste your money. |

Rhea's passion Submitted on: 2006-03-11 |
|
| SwitchBlade Symphony meets Siouxsie and the Banshees, just a bit more mature. Passion for the masses. "Spiritual Fear" a definite hit off this album. Not quite a Metropolis release, but it'll do. |
