Come back to North America some day! Submitted on: 2009-05-05 |
|
| I was head over heels with a-ha in the 1980s and never got over them. The lyrics, the voices...it all seemed and still does that their songs speak to the heartl Then a few years ago I found the new stuff that North America never seemed to receive. This is an amazing album...start to finish. Morten holds a note for over 20 second in "Summer Moved On" talk about award winning. My favorite group has been and always will be a-ha! Morten, Pal and Magne...come back to North America...PLEASE!!! |

Another A-HA album review. Submitted on: 2009-01-22 |
|
| I have been hearing the A-HA song TAKE ON ME for so many years now but have never really heard anything else from the group so I thought I would pick that song up as well as try another album from them. I just wanted to see how the music compared. It's a lot more mellow of an album than I expected but the music is still good and very easy listening. Not really a chart topper in the bunch but if you like the group, it's worth picking up. |

Finally!!! Submitted on: 2008-09-24 |
|
| It is such a shame that a-ha did seem to drop off the radar here in the US, as I loved their early releases very much! It has been difficult, but I FINALLY have the completion of my a-ha collection and this CD was SO worth my waiting!! They are brilliant and I look forward to more from them in the future!! |

Excelent album from a talented band. Submitted on: 2008-08-21 |

| This is a great cd. Pure and simple. A-Ha has matured into wonderful writers, composers and musicians. My favorite tracks: "Minor Earth Major Sky", "Little Black Heart", "Velvet", "Summer Moved On", "The Company Man" and "I Wont Forget Her". Morten's voice is absolutely beautiful in "Summer...". The album is one of those that you can put on during a long drive and listen to completely. A must addition to any music collection! (As a citizen of the U.S., I just wish that they would tour here. I would love to experience the music live.) |

the other 'best' scandinavian band... Submitted on: 2008-06-06 |
|
I loved the album 'Hunting High and Low' in the mid-eighties in spite of the typical production values of the time. The songs behind the slightly 'tinny' sound in vogue back then were full of yearning ('Here I Stand and Face the Rain' is still one of my favourite love songs ever - from any band); I read somewhere that Pål Waaktaar saw the album as a type of love-letter.
'Minor Earth | Major Sky' still has the sense of beauty and emotion of their earlier albums; maybe in a more mature way. Steer clear if you're a musical snob, because you'll probably have your mind made up before you've even heard it (by the way U2, Coldplay and Leonard Cohen admire them so if you do decide to like them don't worry, you're in good company...) but if you love great melody, vocals etc. this album is well worth buying.
Stand-out tracks? The title track, 'Summer Moved On' and 'Little Black Heart'. |
