A brilliant farewell. Submitted on: 2009-09-03 |

| While Jessicka's taken a new approach with her vocals on their sophomore album, the quality of the musicianship hasn't changed. There is no track worth skipping over (To the point where I cannot pick favorites, though, I have a soft spot for "Vivica".) and even hardcore Cure fans will appreciate JOJ's cover of "Lovesong", which, was brilliantly executed. Highly recommended. |

really good cd Submitted on: 2008-06-17 |

| I saw this band live many years ago in Ft Lauderdale and I recently found the CD that I bought that night in my basement (sexless demons). I decided to get Clear Hearts, and it is a much better album! (although I do get a chill every time I hear the end of Angels F Devils kiss). Not sure I understand or want to understand the lyrics, but the music, especially on the first 7 tracks is really good. Strawberry Gashes is the best song. If they were able to get a big deal and re-release this album it would probably be a hit. |

| I must say that I originally bought this CD based on one song (Love Song) but when I had the chance of listening to the rest of the songs,I was really wrapped. I would say the CD would be more appreciated by a female audience but I'm sure the guys would like it also. |

Hard Core Punk Riot Grrrl Bliss Submitted on: 2008-06-07 |

Its been 11 years since I bought the first JOJ album, 'Sexless Demons....'. I remember clearly finding the cover intriguing, and spending my weeks $15 allowance on it. I remember listening to it on repeat all weekend, entranced, unable to turn it off.
A love affair began.
I have traveled as far as 650 miles to see them live. But oddly enough, I wasn't sure they broke up, and I had never heard their 2nd studio album (Clear hearts, Grey flowers). I ordered it, and as soon as I listened to it, it was like It was 1996 all over again. I've had it for a week now, and havent stopped listening to it since (I'm listening to it as I write this review). This album is pure riot grrrl thrash, hardcore goth punk done perfectly. None of the songs run together, they all remain very individual, and they sound like gold. Anyone that heard Sexless Demons will think the lead singer (Jessika) took vocal lessons before recording this album. Her voice is little, but the way she works it is artistry. The guitar work is fantastic. The songs well written. The last track, a cover of the Cure's 'Love Song' is honest to god worth the price of the CD itself. But a lot of tracks on this disc are worth the price of the disc itself. To borrow the NPR show 'Sound Opinion's' rating system of 'Buy it', 'Burn it', 'Trash It', this is a definite 'Buy It'. Jessika, Moulder, if your out there reading this, please put aside you're differences and bring back the magic of the best Grrrl Thrash band in the history of recorded music! 2 studio albums and seeing you live twice (Once with Psychotica, once with Manson/Monster Magnet) just isn't enough to last a lifetime. |

great cover, middling album Submitted on: 2008-01-18 |

| yes, heavy and aggressive, pretty much a big "F-U" to whatever lout they've got in their sights, but it's an "F-U" from chicks you probably wouldn't worry too much about getting the kiss off from. They sound Leather Tuscadero tough, and, baby, that's not tough; it's just annoying. Jack Off Jill can shred a bit, and they at times fire up the guitars, find their hooks and almost . . . almost . . . reach something better, but Joan Jett was more fun and Courtney Love and Hole were not only more fun but much smarter than these gals. Instead of getting disappointed and pissed off at people and then writing songs about them, Jack Off Jill would be wise to just find a better class of friend. You've got to wonder, after awhile, why you keep picking losers. Attitude, ladies, can only carry you so far when you really don't stand for anything. |
