 They start peeling off their clothes...

| What can I say? It's true! I'll have a lady over for dinner, an intimate date. Candlelight, wine, and food you eat with your fingers. We have conversation, we laugh, we flirt, and then... I advance the CD tray to Donny Gerrard's new album, "The Romantic." I swear they can't help themselves, they start peeling off their clothes, and ripping off mine. The second cut, Donny's rendition of Nat King Cole's classic, "The Very Thought of You," seems to especially slay them. His voice is so pure, his phrasing phenomenal, the beauty of his tone sends chills up and down my spine. Not unlike another Donny who is no longer with us, Donny Hathaway. This CD is for anyone that has any kind of understanding of what true musical art is. He doesn't sing a love song, he sings about love. We feel the passion, we feel the emotion, we feel the pain of a spent relationship, but mostly we feel love. How can an artist communicate those things? I don't know, but Donny does it. He's a singer's singer, a musician's musician, an artist for all of us. Donny Gerrard is blessed with a perfect instrument, and we are blessed to hear it. |
