Customer Reviews of This Album/CD

Beautiful Voice...

I actually liked this better than her debut album. I love "Stanger in the house," both the lp track, and the interlude. "Dear John" has a nice beat to it, and "Tell me who" shows off her fantastic singing talent, but I would always skip over all of the other songs.
Very underrated album and artist!

The late nineties and early 2000s had their string of R&B/Pop acts. There were the 100% original trend starters, most notably Aaliyah, who's "One in a Million" arguably was the ultimate starter to the R&B trend. Then there were the artists who were very successful, peaking at this period. Some where more original than others, including Brandy, Monica, and Mya. And then there were the artists that had moderate to little success. Most of these were well know by R&B fans, but showed not much impact on the charts. Unfortunately, this includes Tamia, a very talented young woman who's sophomore effort "A Nu Day" was filled with catchy mainstream R&B joints that should have been much more successful.

"A Nu Day" starts out with an the A Capella chorus to the song "Stranger in My House" which is featured later on the CD. It immediately goes into her telling off her cheating ex-lover via-letter in "Dear John." This song starts off slow, and then has a cool mid-tempo feel. This song isn't the only song that she tells someone off. The album's third track and first single, "Can't Go For That" tells a story of a girl who gets abused by her boyfriend, and is her telling him to "get your hands off me." It also samples a very famous Hall and Oats song.

The album isn't all male bashing though. She sings about a long distance relationship in "Long Distance Love." Even though the song is quite enjoyable, the chorus listing of phone companies just sounds awkward and outdated. My two favorites here would defiantly have to be "Go" and "Stranger in My House." The first is an upbeat "should I leave or stay?" kind of song, produced by Dallas Austin. The latter is a slow jam that was the second single and the albums biggest hit. Some notable other inclusions are the Missy Elliot produced "Wanna Be" and a cover of the DeBarge hit "Love Me in a Special Way."

Overall, this isn't much more than a typical 2000 R&B CD, but with Tamia's vocal talent, it makes it even more pleasant.

SURE HITS: Can't Go For That, Go, Stranger in My House, Wanna Be

I bought this CD because someone who borrowed my previous never returned it. I obviously really love Tamia's music or I would not have bothered. This is definitely a CD to have in your collection. I really love it and interstate music was very careful in packaging and securing the item.
Tamia's sophomore CD

I remember this album when I was in the 8th grade. I love this CD. I played it out so much. This album signals the arrival of a superstar. The album moves like a serious of seductive snapshots, providing tantalizing glimpses into the charismatic artist's soulful demenaor. Despite the increased fraternization with hip-hop personalities, melodic ballads abound, and this album rests on a solid R&B/Pop foundation. This album has been certified GOLD. Remember, this was 2000.
