This is not a tipical family Christmas album. Submitted on: 2002-11-14 |

| But it's the funniest and wildest Christmas album ever. It's a comedy album that was first released in 1980. The CD has some singles from the same period as bonus tracks. It's totally and utterly politically incorrect in many ways, so be warned. Still the music is played so well and obviously with so much enthousiasm, this is without any doubt one of two best rock'n'roll/punkrock Christmas albums of all times.(The other one is Rhino's "Punk rock Christmas") The Yobs wrote a Christmas classic or two of their own: "Another Christmas" and "The ballad of the Warrington". Great songs. Their version of "Silver bells" is the most infectious version of the song I have ever heard. "Rub a dum dum" is a rude thing to do. specially at Christmas. The only song I dont't like much is their version of "Jingle bells" which is in a different style. Personally I don't take the []lyrics of some songs too seriously because I have a dark sense of humor, but many people might be offended by "Silent night" or "White Christmas".Just program your CD player to skip any song that goes too far for your good taste and you can't go wrong with this one. (If you like good rock or punk music with spicy lyrics that is.)Too bad you're only supposed to play it in december. But who says it would sound bad in june? I won't complain. I promise. By the way: This is not their only Christmas album. |
