A rare work of art. Submitted on: 2008-07-20 |

| Well written lyrics and gnarly musical flow, I was totally blown away with this CD it's raw with that edge that bands of today are so lacking. The best tracks are the spoken word tracks because they capture the heart and soul of the man, the myth, the God who was GG Allin. |

Simply some of the best recordings ever made Submitted on: 2002-11-09 |

| Since I am the first to write about this album, I must explain that this is a compilation of sorts, incorporating spoken word, interviews from prison, a couple of cover songs, and the real gems: five acoustic pieces (though not to be confused with anything on "Carnival of Excess;" these are truly rough-and-ready -- there's no band, just GG Allin and a guitar, for the most part). The intro track, "When I Die," may be familiar to those who have seen the Todd Phillips film "Hated." Track 2, "Liquor-Slicked Highway," is like an old-time hobo song that, in my experience, tends to inspire sing-alongs even among those who don't normally like GG Allin. Another standout is the humorous "Rowdy Beer-Drinkin' Night," recorded in Allin's earlier days and with a decidedly 'country' slant. Truly great recordings, of a type you don't hear very often. I understand that GG Allin himself was proudest of his acoustic stuff (in one of the interview clips he comments to this effect). Buy this album and see what you think. |
