Perfection or Vanity? Perfection

This is the album that got me into European metal.
Absolutely amazing, devastating drums accompany shredding and sailing guitar riffs all punctuated with that distinct growl. The production is incredible, basically I can't say enough about this album. If you're not sure how you feel about metal, listen to this album
Best Dimmu CD...hands down.

Ok, I'm writing this with "Kings Of The Carnival Creation" blaring in the background. Before I bought this, I had only ever heard 2 songs from it, so I was going from that and other peoples' reviews on here. This album blew my mind...not one bad track on it. But my favorites would have to be "Kings..." and "Hybrid Stigmata - The Apostasy". I currently own 4 Dimmu albums and this is my favorite one out of "In Sorte Diaboli", "Enthrone Darkness Triumphant" and "Spiritual Black Dimensions". I honestly cannot understand why so many people think that Dimmu are posers or sell outs just because their fan base is huge...and I mean HUGE for a Black Metal band. They don't get the respect they deserve, and it's not right. I definitely, 100% recommend this to anyone looking for good, crushing...yet melodic & very symphonic black metal.

anyone who loves (symphonic) black metal, or dimmu borgir should buy this album. it is by far their best work, along with stormblast and death cult armageddon.

starting with their the first intro song fear and wonder, you get a whiff of the classical touch this album has. then from the second song on its all a head banging wonder. #3, kings of the carnival shows you a twisted side of dimmu, with some sweet guitar riffs and machine gun style blast beats.

then hybrid stygmata turns everything around wit ha song surrounded by synth. youll find you self loving the the syth as much as any other instrument used. the riff in this song makes it my personal favorite on the album.

#5 is a roller coaster ride of a song with many ups and downs. another very good song with many awesome bridges.
#6 is kind of a twisted heavy, slow song.

#7 picks it right back up with instant blasting and heavy riffing. the drumming in this song is phenomenal. the slow ending is just not enough to get me ready for this next song. by the time this song is over you feel like it should have been a 10 minute song.

#8 shagrath's vocals in this song give it an extra beef over the riffing for all the vocalists. bu that doesnt make it any worse.

#9 is kind of an average song, if there is one on this album. the guitar, and the drumming is very tight on this song. you can kind of tell the vocals are starting to get tired from heavy recording, but its not too weak.

#10 they pick the synth back up, but not as catchy as hybrid stigmata. two minutes into the song it transitions int a slow catchy groove. and thats what makes this song good. plus i like the bassist's vocals. they finish the song strong and fast so that...

#11 can start and end with a slow, cool, calm string piece that concludes the album. it truly is an epic kind of ending.

and this is an epic album. its a must for any black metal fan. even if you despise how dimmu has lost their touch with the black metal crowd, you can at least listen and love old dimmu.

Great Album!

This is a pretty good album from Dimmu. There are ups and downs on this one. In my opinion what makes this album so good is Nicholas. His drumming is insane! Shagrath's vocals could have been a little better. I wasn't too crazy about the special effects. Guitars are good as usual thanks to Silenoz and Galder. Overall this is a great album to have in your Dimmu Borgir collection. If your new to this band and your an old school black metal fan such as myself, I'd say go for their older stuff like "Enthrone Darkness Triumphant" and "Stormblast".
WOW!!!!!!!

An old friend suggested this album to me, and although I'm not a huge black metal fan, I gave it a shot. I was totally blown away by the musicianship on this album. What a beautifully crafted album!!!! This will not be my last Dimmu Borgir album purchase. I'm hooked!!!!!!
