Must not sleep. Must warn others.

Just like all of Aes's early work, it rocks. It's not quite at the level of Labor Days, But I enjoy it much more than anything he did afterwards. Some of the tracks suffer from Aes's cheesy production, but several of his self produced tracks are surprisingly good. Blockhead takes care of the rest of the production, which is always top notch. Despite being 20 tracks long, I do not find myself skipping any. It's one of those "listen to all the way through" CDs, which are increasingly rare these days. Features excellent guest spots by futre label-mate Vast Aire (before he smoked away his ability) and Slug from Atmosphere. Buy it.
Transending hip hop

This man is the future of hip hop period. I have personally turned people
that absolutely hate hip hop into rabid Aesop Rock fans with this album.
There are two kinds of people, those who listen carefully to Aesop and
love him, or those who don't think hip hop should require any thinking
and hate him. Whatever, here's to the thinking man's hip hop savior,
Ace Rizzle.
More than just a CD

I own about 200 CD's generally related to this sort of music (rap, hip-hop, electronic music, etc.), and some are so-so, some are good, some are great, and a rare few are so good, have so much content, that they seem to go so far beyond a mere `album'. This is one of them.

At 70 minutes, they used about all the space they could have - and more importantly, there is no filler. Every single song on here (less a few `transition' tracks) is a full, real, song that you will want to listen to over and over. Only had this CD a few days and have listened to it about a dozen times, and I get irritated when I am away from it. It's that good.

The lyrics are stunning (you feel smarter for listening to it, we are not talking about milkshakes and Escalades on 30's here!), the music is generally restrained, well-done, and enjoyable to listen to. Tracks that stand out to me are 4, 7, 9, and 15. Not that the others are bad, but these are just unreal.

For the last 6 months, I have not added a new CD to my collection that really got me excited. I am glad this one showed up. And please don't download this thing off a torrent; buy it so we are not stuck with Top 40 trash for the rest of our lives.
So I heard y'all wanna Float...

I absolutely love this CD. I decided to go out on a limb and bought Float and Labor Days at the same time and I can't decide which one I like more. It was the best CD purchase I made all year.

To start off, this is unlike any rap or hip-hop you have probably heard before, unless you are familiar to Aesop. His lyrics are genius, well-blended, and tell a story that will draw you in on every song. They will make you think. When I first listened to this album, it helped me to get some lyrics off the 'net before hand. Not to mention, the speed at which he raps in some songs is awe-inspiring. If you stop and take time to analyze some phrases, you may find yourself getting lost.

The production is stellar. The blend of beats and classic instruments on some songs (Basic Cable and How To Be A Carpenter being my favorite examples)is amazing. Half of the album is produced by Aesop, and the other half is produced by Blockhead, just in case you know Blockhead from his other endeavors. They both did a fantastic job. Some of the songs are upbeat, some melancholy, but all capture a full range of human emotion. Aesop also does a few collaborations with Slug, Vast Aire, and Dose One. Some songs worth mentioning include...well, all of them. I really can't find one that I don't like in one way or another.

On a final thought, you must buy this album. After you pick up this one, I recommend buying Labor Days.

I'm officially closed for consultation.
Pretentious Windbag

Aesop Rock sucks. Pretentious white windbag. Cop the new UGK or some Sean Price and listen to some real rap music. This dude blows.
