solid "2nd" solo from Big Syke Submitted on: 2005-06-28 |
|
Four years since his solo debut, Syke drops his "2nd" solo and it's tied for his best (with his self titled Rap-A-Lot album from Oct. 2002) out of his 1st 4 (even though almost half the songs on here are from his 1997 "Be Yo Self" album). His lyrics are on point on this one and it wasn't really rushed like his following 2 solo's and copmpilations (which all came out in the next 2 years). Of the 16 songs on here, 1 is a classic, 1 is almost a classic, 1 I skip, 4 are ok, the other 9 are good. Guests are on only 4 songs rapping and on a few of the hooks so you get enough of Big Syke to satisfy you. Production is also good on this one, Vachik A., Johnny J, and Nate Foxx all do 4 songs, Big Syke, DJ Quik, Thug LAw, and Femi Ojetunde all do 1 song. Amust have album for Thug Life, Outlaw or Syke fans.

I must say that I have heard a lot of West Coast rap in the past, but less and less today. But when I listen to such an album, west coast comes back in my heart... Excellent beats, excellent flow, good classical themes, damn! this album is a bomb! |

I'd give this album 5 stars but... Submitted on: 2001-10-29 |

| I'd give this album 5 stars but half of the songs come from his previous LP "Be Yo Self". It's not right to sell the same tracks as a new album. Still, if you haven't heard Syke's debut LP than you definitely should check this one out. Syke has a great voice and the beats are outstanding (Johnny J did some of them). |
