| I discovered 99 Posse while studying for my degree in Italian. While I am certain that a knowledge of the language is helpful to fully enjoying the music as the lyrics are really topnotch and thoughtful, the music itself is the most original thing to come out of Italy in who knows how long. Not only have these musicians mastered the poetry of politics and passion for change, but they have also mastered a sort of modern poetry of sound. Pulling from a rich background of music to combine the best qualities of rap, electronica, reggea, ska, jazz and even middle eastern modal forms, they create a rich sound that probably could only be engendered in a port city as rich in history and culture and Napoli. I cannot say enough to encourage people to check out 99 Posse. |
