Amazing band, variety of sounds Submitted on: 2008-08-26 |

| I used to listen to this band like 4 years ago, and put the CD in again and still love it, which is rare for me. To all of you people who think they sound the same as all the other up and coming bands i completely disagree. Maybe you don't like the genre as much, but that doesn't mean the band isn't talented. When compared with Linkin Park I'd say this band is farther towards rock on the rap/rock scale (I know linkin park isn't rap, but they have more rap than third strike). The music brings out emotion and energy from within me and I don't get sick of the music, which in my opinion is ideal music. It's really too bad they only made 1 CD, although as with most bands they probably would have made 1 CD (at most) on par with this one before going downhill. |

Not exactly an album review, but... Submitted on: 2005-12-29 |

I originally borrowed this CD from a friend of mine a few years back, and then in the process of on-line searches found that 3rd Strike had broken up. I felt shocked and was amused at the same time. I skipped the vast majority of the songs, only because they covered a song that, in the metal and hard rock community at least, is considered a timeless classic: Black Sabbath's Paranoid (originally intended as an album filler on the Paranoid LP which grew into a behemoth). It was interesting to hear their interpretation, because they made it their own. 3rd Strike added their own style, and a bridge section instead of a solo (such a sad trend in the nu-metal genre, removing guitar solos) which actually fit the context of the song itself. If Paranoid were the only song on the album then full stars would be awarded.
The rest of the album was decent when I actually listened to it, but "Paranoid" was what really made this album stand out to me. |

| This band has to be one of the best bands ever. It's just to bad that they no longer exist. Their music is so good. The tune and everythin is great. I would recomend people to buy this cd as its their only one. Im sure when you listen to it you will be a fan. |

broke up? Submitted on: 2005-02-20 |

I love this CD. From start to finish, it has nothing but buttwhoopinraprockrockrap music. The only thing I found negative was the 4 letter words. I had to censor my daughter from a few GREAT SONGS!...grrr
If this band has broken up, then thats a dumbass move IMHO.. someone screwed up the workings of a great band. It truly is rare when you hear a band with talent like this.

R.I.P. 3rd Strike Submitted on: 2005-02-16 |
|
| 3rd Strike was a band like no other. They played a style of rap metal that is not a rip-off of lesser groups like Kid Rock and Limp Bizkit (they suck). 3rd Strike was more emotional with their music, sort of how Ill Nino, Flaw and Unloco can be. If you hate "nu-metal" (Why hate it? Just because you hate Korn and Slipknot doesn't mean they're poser.), you will not like this. However, this is another advance for the short lived genre. "No Light" is a very emotional song that got the group going. "Redemption", the other single, refrains from the rap lyrics and shows how "nu-metal" isn't just something you should just despise of (unless you don't listen to mellower music, which I listen to sometimes). Many places sell this CD used for only about 2 dollars, but this isn't a waste. Listen to this if you want to break away from bands like System Of A Down or Slipknot for a while. (I have nothing against them.) |
