 It comes no better

| There is no reason why anyone should ever hear this and not agree that Rock and Roll music has reached the pinnacle of passion in this band. If you do not like this album, you are not metal, never will be, and I curse you. If you have never claimed metal as your own, and you do not like this, then get off my planet. Destroyer represent the human experience in every aspect. Even the most vulgar song here, "Raped", is layered in beautiful metaphors for the exploitation and willing acceptance of a society that condemns the evil that constantly f@%ks it, yet willingly takes it up the a$$. And that isn't even half of the majesty of Cold Steel. Time and again, my stoicism has been cracked to tears by the beauty and the glory of this album. To not own this album is a mortal sin unto thyself. If anyone, even your best friend, ever tells you that this is anything less than amazing, shun them, hit them, and ignore them for the rest of your lives, for they are a fool and a blasphemer. |

Big improvement

| This is a big improvement on the style that made Phoenix Rising such a stellar effort from this aussie unit. First of all the drums dont have that clicky drum trigger sound that was present in some parts on the last album inits place are thick and heavy rolling drums that make the blood boil. Second, the sound seems a little more cohesive and the thrashier parts definitely shine through in every song. Third, the dual vocal duties are grand as both KK Warslut and S Berserker possess thoroughly wretched rasps as well as some hefty growling that are put to good use on every track. All in all, if you loved the thrashier parts on the last album but were turned off by the drum sound and poor mix then this album will certainly change your mind. A monument in war metal for the new millenium. |
