Mary Karlzens best work to date. Dim the Watershed Submitted on: 2008-09-19 |

"Dim the Watershed" is Mary Karlzens best work to date.
A country-folk-pop crossover record without anything fake sounding.
Great song writing, strong vocals, and good studio production.
9. Wonderland is my favorite, but 1. When You Go, and 5. Time, are also very strong compositions.
Not a bad song in the bunch!
The entire CD ties together. It truly sounds like a band, and not just a bunch of hired guns backing up a solo artist.
This CD has survived many trends in my play list.
Mary Karlzen is mostly known for "Yelling at Mary", but "Dim the Watershed" is a later and greater representation.
Mary Karlzen is one of those unknown artists whose contribution and qualities have not been reciprocated by fame or fortune even at a moderate level.
She has enriched the listening of music in my life with this CD release.

Great album! Submitted on: 2003-10-28 |

| Mary Karlzen is another one of the relatively unknown musical artists that would have been commercially succesful in the '70s before the pop-culture descended into the putrid mockery of music that it is today. Mary is a gifted songwriter and singer, and Dim the Watershed is fantastic, even better than her previous effort Yelling at Mary. Every song here is strong and moving. Especially Time, Pictures of You and Wonderland. Songs like these reveal how impressive her writing talents really are. A treasure amongst the corporate crap that floods the market these days. If you like Patty Griffin you'll like Mary Karlzen. If you're unfamiliar with both, you're really missing out on some truly great rock music of the singer/songwriter genre. |
