 Vieuxtemps, Finally at a Budget Price

| After reviewing the full-price CD edition of this title, I am delighted to see that it has finally been reissued at budget line in EMI's Encore series. This is a terrific recording of Henri Vieuxtemps' two Cello Concertos featuring cellist Heinrich Schiff and Sir Neville Marriner conducting the Stuttgart RSO. The performances are digital recordings from the mid-1980s and both the sound and playing are wonderful. In fact, my only complaint is that there is not another piece tacked on to the end of the disc, considering it logs in at a shade under fifty minutes. I was able to order the import version of this "Encore" disc when it came out in 2002 (I originally ordered my copy from HMV Canada prior to their partnership with Amazon), and now that the domestic edition is here, we can all enjoy this Vieuxtemps at a reasonable price. |
