are y'all still sleeping Submitted on: 2008-01-14 |

I wrote this reveiw in 2002 and hardly no one still seems to be talking about this album. I still stand by this review.
ever since tela left suave house its like no one is feeling him..but this album is real good. tela sticks to the script and lets u know why he one of the most slept on artist. what i like about the album is it has a radio friendly feel to it without being out of touch with the streets. he reminds me of a southern jay-z, because of his flow and how he can make "complete" songs. he has some good guest artist, but not to many, which is good. so give him a chance, trust me if u like good old fashion pimpin' rhymes this is the one. (he'll make too short so proud.) |

As usual - a perfect album by this Tennessee Titan Submitted on: 2006-10-23 |

Tela, the Memphis rapper, who started at Suava House, but moved to Houston powerhouse Rap-A-Lot delivers another perfect album. To me, it's a perfect follow-up to his previous 5 star album "The World Ain't Enough". I don't have enough praises for Tela, as a rapper and as a producer and artist overall. The man is so talented and I am so upset he's dissappeared ever since "Double Dose" (which was released more than 4 years ago!). On "Double Dose" Tela takes off where he left on "The World...". His production is flawless, as he produces most of the tracks with his longtime partner... Jazze Pha produces a couple of tight tracks as well (and also appears to drop an unforgettable chorus on "Coco"). Tela's music is so rich, mellodic and musical... Tela has just his own sound! It's different than any other album on Rap-A-Lot and different than any other artist, period. Tela is original, how many rappers do THAT, huh? I mean, damn, even the intro and the outro are so tight!! you wish they were longer!
Tela's rapping is also untouchable. He's got such a deep and warm voice, with just the right portion of Southern drawl to it. Plus, he's got charisma, something most of the new rappers lack. Lyrically, Tela is mostly about being a playa, pimpin' and just livin' the good life. And of course representin' the M-Town... I gotta agree with something one of the other reviewers here said - Tela has a unique talent of making COMPLETE songs - that means from the beat, to the rapping up to the very catchy chorus (just listen to "Incredible" which is without in Tela's top 5 songs list - this song, if it was marked probably, could make the top 10 billboard list in a second!). Most of the songs are laid-back, because this is the type of guy, Tela is. You get a few more up-tempo songs that could even get some play at the strip clubs and a few harder edged songs... Guests include Eightball, MJG, Devin, Bun B, Gangsta Boo, Yo Gotti, Jazze Pha and a few others. Overall, it's another perfect album, and I really hope that "Double Dose", Tela's 4th album is NOT his last. I really hope J Prince and Tela have another album in mind, because we really need this... Guest appearences are not enough, T, we need another album we can bump ! |

Tela is the "incredible"guy Submitted on: 2005-08-10 |

There are no time-wasters on here--even the intro & outro sound amazing! The pimptastic tracks go down reaaal smooth.
The most familiar songs are "incredible," "coco," "tennessee titans," and "pimp b*tch."
Unlike many rappers today, Tela sounds great alone (ex: "double dose," my favorite track); Devin the Dude, Jazzy Pha, and the other guests are hot fudge on Tela's ice cream.
Buy this CD; it's good. |
