Maybe her Strongest CD ever Submitted on: 2007-06-02 |

This album is great. Sherrie's voice is, like her other CDs, great. This album stands out for its songwriting. The lyrics are great. Pretty much every song is good and a lot are great. Here they are:
Singin' to the Scarecrow - a little girl gains practice for her stage career by singing to the scarecrow back on the home farm
Small Town Boy - singer regrets giving up a good country boy to chase city dreams. She now hopes he'll take her back. Good beat.
Ride Em Cowgirl - slow song wondering when the rodeo woman will quit that and pick someone to settle down with.
Driving Into the Sun - good uptempo tune about how singer was blinded by a lover when young. Good line: "in the back set of your car, I gave you more than my heart."
Fools Like Us - slow love song, sensual, singer and lover have made up after silly fighting and have a second chance.
Somebody's Somebody - good, lively number about how everyone wants a special someone
Love Unafraid - gentle song about asking a man to be with the singer without inhibition
This Town is That Small - one of Sherrie's few non-romance tunes. A funny song about gossip and backstabbing in a small town.
Remind Me - good slower tune, wistful
I'm Still Fallin - uptempo song that really moves, is about the singer's love still going strong
Streets of Heaven - title track, singer is sitting with a terminally ill little girl in hospital, wonders why God must take her so soon, plaintive without being maudlin
Like a Cat - features banjo, uptempo, singer compares self to cat that usually disappears but might stick around for a man
Heart on Ice - hidden track, good beat, singer feels great passion for her lover but feels a need to restrain it. "Neon flashing MOTEL"
Very high quality music from Sherrie. She is a real musician, too bad radio didn't see it more.

Most solid CD since Words! Submitted on: 2006-01-15 |

Believe or not Sherrie Austin has been on and off the country scene since 1997 when her first single "Put Your Heart Into It" hit country radio to very moderate success. It was off her debut CD "Words". When I first heard the song I admit I wasn't overly impressed especially after seeing the video for the single. I figured it was just another cliché attempt to put an artist out with average talent that was inside a pretty package and sell some records. It wasn't until her the first single off her sophomore CD "Love in the Real World" was released that I started to take notice. The song was "Never Been Kissed" a catchy tune that caught my ear. I bought the single for it and the b side of the single contained the title track off her first cd and after hearing it decided to give her debut cd a listen to and as the saying goes, the rest is history. I was incredibly pleased with it, I thought the songs were well written and her voice was refreshing, part of that I think was due to the fact that she was originally from Australia, home also to rising country star Keith Urban.
I was also surprised to discover that almost every track on the album was either written or co-written by Sherrie herself which makes her music all the more appealing. Sherrie quickly became one of my favorite Artist in any genre and I vowed from that moment on to follow her career in spades.
Sherrie next two outings after words were "Love in the Real Word" and "Followin' A Feeling" respectively. Both solid efforts with some catchy and emotional, well written songs that I still listen to to this day, but just fell short of her original.
Her latest CD "Streets of Heaven" has brought back all the magic, fun, and tears and then some. The title track did extremely well on country radio and helped boost sales of the CD, no thanks to Broken Bow records. As with her previous albums almost every track on the CD was either written or co-written by Sherrie and her strength as a song writer really shine, especially on the tracks "Remind Me", the title track "Streets of Heaven" and "Ride 'Em Cowgirl" which is reminiscent of the Eagles classic "Desperado" only from the female point of view. It's a solid effort and I think anyone who enjoys good country music or music in general should give a listen to.
The reason Sherrie Austins' star has not shown as brightly as it should I think can be attributed to the fact that her record company's had a marginal amount of faith in her and as a result did very little to promote her music, that is also the reason over the course of Four albums she has been with three different record companies. However the music should speak for itself and I know that once someone picks up the sword and gives her music the exposure it deserves she will find herself perhaps among the greats of this genre. Bottom line, pick this album up and show support and hopefully Sherrie will continue surprising us for years to come.

Another great Sherrie cd!! Submitted on: 2004-07-19 |

| Sherrie Austin has to be my favorite singer...country, pop, rock, or other. She's got wonderfully written songs that are about real life without being your stereotypical whining country. This cd is great! I listen to it all the time and never get sick of it. The title song will make you cry. "Singing to the scarecrow" reminds me of "Dreaming out loud" from her last cd. It has a strong visual with it and it always makes me smile. "Ride 'em cowgirl" is an awsome song. 'Nuff said. "Somebody's somebody" is a fun song to sing along to. "This town is that small" is EXTREMELY true. I come from that kind of town! My personal favorites are "I'm still fallin'" (one of those songs you belt out in your car when you're alone) and the hidden song after "I'm like a cat". That one is just plan fun to sing on your way home from work. I highly recommend this one. If you like it, get "Love in the real world" too. I think it's her best one overall. |

An excellent effort Submitted on: 2004-03-30 |

| When Words came out I was floored by this artist. Since then it seemed to me she would never again reach that level in her music again. I enjoyed her next two efforts, but they weren't quite the same. While its always unfair to compare their albums against each other, I believe she again found that magic with Streets of Heaven. This is an amazing collection of songs. If you loved Words half as much as I did, buy this. You won't regret it. |
