I also have been a Moody Blues fan since the early days. My first record of theirs was a 45 RPM of Tuesday Afternoon. It was 1967 and I believe it was released before Nights In White Satin. The foundation of the Moody sound was Mike Pinder's "Pindertron." The Moody Blues were just not the same when Pinder left the group and I have seen every version of the band. By the way ... why aren't the Moody Blues in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame? Let's get on it! Anyway ... December is a throwback to their concept days and I agree, it is the best effort since Seventh Sojourn. December Snow and Don't Need a Reindeer are especially tasty.

Buy this ... you won't be sorry. And let's get these guys into the Hall. Maybe Hayward, Thomas, Edge, Lodge & Pinder would get together and perform for their induction.

Peace.
Horribly depressing and awful

I love the Moody Blues and have since 1971. I'm 55 and of course I believe their best work are "Threshold of a Dream, In search of a Lost Chord, and Every Good Boy Desereves Favor". But My favorite album of all time by them is "Seventh Sojourn"! It is beautiful.
A friend loaned me this Christmas CD and I was could not believe how bad it is. It is awful and lyrically depressing. The traditional Christmas songs are done infinetly better by an earlier generation for sure. What a dissappointment but at least I didn't spend money on this. It seems to me that Hayward and Lodge are getting worse a sthey age. Their voices and inflections now cross the line and sound ultra insipid, contrived and have an abrasive quality to me.
Bummer.

Being a Moody Blues fan most of my life, I immediately bought this cd when it hit the shelves. I try to give this one a chance every Christmas season to get my money's worth but I'm giving up on that this year. The music is uninspired and boring. The lyrics are downright depressing; which spoil a few songs that would be good, otherwise. This is the band's most negative and cynical work and it's supposed to be a "Christmas" album. Thanks, but I'll keep things on the cheery side this year...
DECEMBER By The Moody Blues

As a very long time fan of the Moody Blues & one that enjoys Christmas music (Neil Diamond, Josh Groban, etc), I just happened to check if The Moody Blues had ever done a Christmas CD. And, yes, DECEMBER, put out a few years ago. Though I got it after Christmas this year, I have enjoyed it immensely & would totally recommend it to Moody Blues fans & anyone who enjoys Christmas music. I would have liked a couple more "known" Christmas carols.
Best Christmas music ever

It is truly great to hear some new Christmas seasonal music, and some of the songs are really amazing. We first heard the song "December" in concert this March 2008, and I like the live version more, but it is a beautiful song nonetheless. I would love to hear more of these songs during the holiday season, instead of the same old stuff we are bombarded with for the 2 months before Christmas everywhere we go, now atleast I can at home.
