Another outstanding work of art from England's great white soulstress Submitted on: 2009-06-29 |
|
| After making three of the early 90s best soul albums in about as many years, Lisa Stansfield decided to take a few years off before coming back. Whatever she did during that time hardly did anything to affect her musical vision, and on this 1997 album, she continues to belt out her trademark brand of earthy, emotional soul (though there does seem to be just a slight hint of restraint in her voice from earlier albums; this may be a good thing for some, maybe not so for others). Anyway, like her previous albums, this one contains more of the beautifully melodic ballads that Lisa does best, and she doesn't skimp on that signature brand of heartfelt emotion that's made her so endearing over the years. |

As a child growing up in Rochdale, lisa's home town, I was one of the few people who new about lisa's early singing.
Lisa was a student of my mothers art class at Sidall moor high school in Heywood lancashire. My mother would encourage her to sing in class.
I have since then folowed her career and think she has and amazing voice. this CD is no exception, pure woman, sensual and classy! |

"This C.D. Is Simply Fab"!! Submitted on: 2006-01-13 |
|
| When "Lisa Stansfield" was released years ago, I bought it in cassette form. I played it so much that I ruined it. After searching and searching for months, I finally found it on C.D. It looks like I'm going to ruin the C.D. because I've been playing it everyday since I bought it. I just love her voice. She should be right up there with the likes of Whitney, Barbara, Mariah, and Celine. "Somewhere In Time" is my very favorite track on the C.D. She's great. |

Music for the 2000's Submitted on: 2005-04-07 |

| I really wish Lisa had come out onto the music scene nowadays. Back when she did come out, her style of music was not really in the American mainstream, but now, woohoo. I know that if "All Around the World" was released as a single now it would hit the top of the charts and that all of her cds to follow would hit the number one spots on all the charts. I think that listeners as a whole are tired of singers and bands that sound all the same and are lookin for a breath of fresh air. Lisa Stansfield is exactly that. This cd showcases her singing abilities perfectly. From the powerful ballads to the blood pumping numbers, this cd is what america needs now. All of her cds are in their own way different, but Lisa remains the same on all of em. Why not give her a try and see if I am wrong america, what have you got to lose? |
