Customer Reviews of This Album/CD

For The Experienced Slip Fan

First of all I'd like to say that if you're just wondering about The Slip and are thinking of buying an album i would buy "Angels Come On Time" as it is a better showcase of The Slip's various stylings.

That said if you enjoyed Angels Come On Time, after a few listens you'll love this album. It's an all acoustic live set (you can tell by the title). The album is about 50-50 lyrical and insturmental songs.

The instrumentals show that the slip know how to jam. With smooth flowing guitar riffs, heavy basslines and playful drumming the song "Torque" is relaxing, interesting and exciting all at the same time. Especially when the steel drums make an apperance. The other instrumentals are also beautifully done but some of them drag on for a while.

The lyrical tracks are also very well done "Poor Boy" is a foot- stomping-country-feel type song "Hunny" also has that feel and both have interesting lyrics. The banjo or something that sounds quite a bit like it is beautiful on the track "Seventy-Four" a much more mellow song than "Toruqe" it's more remncicent of a country sun-set scene in an old movie than "Torque"'s beach-feel. "Let The Morning In" and "Before You Were Born" are both very mellow songs with absolutley poetic lyrics, soothing guitar aswell and the usual heavy bass and drumming thats not too much but gets a little tricky every now and then.

It gets 4 stars because some of the other instrumental tracks drag on a bit. Other than that the songs are ones that you'll want to listen to just relax. Highly recommended.
