Mesmerising Submitted on: 2006-10-08 |

I already had this song on their album Lost & Found, but when they released it as a single and I heard the mixes I had to buy it.
The original/radio edit is fantastic! It's melody and arrangement is so mesmerising and pulls you into the song. The bass line makes you want to get up and shake your thing, like the dancers in the video!
The Peter Luts mix is great. It's layered with more trance synth sounds.
The TDR mix is a very dark trance mix, and very cool vocal mixing.
The CeCe'M mix is more housey and the tempo is a bit more slower than all the other versions, but cool to groove to. |

Hypnotic Submitted on: 2005-04-10 |

| I really like this new single from the band Ian Van Dahl. "Inspiration" is a mid-paced, hypnotic, groove-focused song. I love it because it shows versitility and not running a successful sound into the ground! It peaked at #8 on the Hot Dance Singles Sales chart. |

Could Have Been Moree Inspired, but Still Satisfactory Submitted on: 2005-03-25 |

Inspiration is the latest single (as of March 2005) off of Ian Van Dahl's second album "Lost and Found". The single for Inspiration deviates a bit from the generous singles from the past few months, only featuring 5 tracks, but still for a low price. The tracks on the single though are 2 regular versions of Inspiration (a radio edit and an extended/full version), two tranced remixes, and a soft but happy and upbeat version. Of the 5 versions on the CD, the extended remix and the remix by Peter Luts seem to be the best. The TDR remix serves an interesting feature though, as it has Annemie on a vocoder for the chours of the song - something that Ian Van Dahl should experiment with and capitalize on in the future.
Inspiration, despite having a weak single, is arguably one of the more unique songs on Ian Van Dahl's "Lost & Found" album, and it is a little dissapointing to see that the group did not make a strong effort to build on the song's unique style. It is a simple song in terms of structure, but it seems to just stand out in it's non-traditional manner.
All complaints aside, Inspiration is still an alright single, but it could have stood to have more tracks; and perhaps more variety. It garners a 3.0 star rating, and should still be considered if you are looking for a good dance track that stands out a bit from the past few songs that IVD and other mainstream trance/dance acts have done. |

not a pulsing trance vocal track... Submitted on: 2005-03-16 |
|
| this is a poor entry in the consistent singles released by ian van Dahl. If you have the album version, which is a rather simple dance tune to begin with, you also get that in an extended version. the last two tracks are breakbeat mixes, and track 3, the Peter lutz mix, is the best for lovers of female vocal trance. It's a little faster and more riff driven, but it's still not a real stomper. |
