A Bleak and Desolate Musical Landscape Submitted on: 2006-10-22 |

| This is an excellent black metal album. The 1 star is removed for this being a 2005 re-issue from Candlelight music, the production is really sub-par. There are a lot of "drop-outs" in my cd pressing. However, you will go on an abysmal journey with Vindisval. Most of the "vocals" are well, pained, tortured shrieks. Track 4 is a well-done "clean" choir chant. Powerful guitar riffage throughout, with sad and eerie keys. Worth the time and effort. My favorite track is "Journey from Ringthorn. Originally recorded in 1995 and has the traditional raw and gritty sound of black metal at that time. Get this. |

ENCHANTING ATMOSPHERIC ETHEREAL CREEPY COLD GRIM DARK SDBM Submitted on: 2005-11-09 |

| This is Blut Aus Nord's debut album. And all i have to say is this is one ov the most amazing releases i have heard. these guys are so progressive, atmospheric and ethereal. Dont worry there's plenty ov kvlt black metal to go around. rest asure you wont get Nymphetamine type ultra polished production on this record, though its not noisy. The dirty guitar tone is a strong low end sizzle that adds to the erieness ov this record. And the clean is extremly clean yet very abysmall. there are many differant types ov organs and keyboards used on this record. very analog and very creepy. The vocals range from tortured black metal to varg esque voice crackings to perfect pitch viking chanting. the drum machine is very organic sounding. The beats and fills are quite tasteful and just really fit the ambiance. The music is described in the title. Final product, cold grim? I think so. Perfect? I think so! 100/100 |
