A very good collection of the worldsongs makes this album a must have.
The tenor and bariton voices of the men completed with the female sopranos are a joy and miracle to listen.
Particully "Nella Fantasia" and "The Prayer" are top, even when you are familiar with the versions of "Il Divo", "Josh Groban" and "Andrea Bocelli".

Discovering Amici while watching the TODAY SHOW some years ago was a wonderful find. It is a popularized form of operatic singing which can appeal to all generations. The voices are strong, clear and precise.
Soon after purchasing this tape some years ago I introduced it to my European born parents. They loved it as much as I did. They had encouraged my siblings and I to listen to opera music and watch it on public television while growing up in Detroit, Michigan. Later I had the pleasure of enjoying live opera in Europe and back in the United States in Miami, Florida (their own opera company) and Savannah, Georgia (visiting opera companies there).
The tape begins with LA FIAMMA SACRA (The Sacred Flame)which as the CD jacket explains: "Perfectly shows off the pop and classical styles that have become the hallmark of Amici sound." I love the lyrics: "Born with the voice of an angel. A boy with the earth on his hands. For this child of the lowly. Fate had made other plans. He was only a man of the people. With barely his clothes to his name. But when he sang there was magic. Touched by love's sacred flame...."
The third song on the tape is THE PRAYER originally made famous by Andrea Booelli and Celine Dion. It was expanded from a duet to a quintet and sung beautifully in English and Italian.
SO FAR AWAY, the fifth song on the tape, has an hauntingly Irish feel to it. The tape jacket states, however, that it is an original song about "The Land of the Long White Cloud" or New Zealand.
Songs Nine and Ten (MON COEUR S'OUVRE A TA VOIX and RECONDITA ARMONIA) are from the operas Samson and Delilah and Tosca respectively.
Listening to AMICI's music has been and continues to be an outstanding experience for myself and my family members.

Their voices are phenomenal, and combined with the orchestral backup, this is music/artistry at it's grandest. |

This is an average CD. I do not think it as good as the first. I am really not a fan of The Prayer sung by anyone.
You can bypass the loading of the software by holding down the shift key while the disc loads. Once it stops spinning, it will show up in media player or your other audio program. I am still working to get the software off of my computer, but at least it will not infect any of my other machines. Not that I will purchase any other of this type of disc, ever. |
