| some of the songs seem to be mired in the eighties feel, but the other tunes clearly geared torwards the southern rock feel hit the mark. |

| This is, without a doubt, one of the best David Allan Coe albums I've ever heard. I always expect great stuff from this guy, but Unchained/Son of the South really stands out. There is not one bad song on this album. A true gem. |
