Delightful music Submitted on: 2007-11-01 |

| A beautifully balanced CD with jazzy songs, new and old in the cafe style for easy listening. A nice mixture of English, French and the occasional Spanish songs, that appealed to the Europhile in me. Realising that this is CD 2, CD no 1 is now on my wish list. |

A Fantastique Collection Of Bouncing Jazz In Both French And English Submitted on: 2005-11-02 |

Cafe De Flore V.2 is a fantastique little collection of some of the most swinging tunes to come out of the French corner within the last fifty years. I'm only twenty years of age, and my musical interests lay mainly in the region of what Stephane Pompougnac has been producing over the years but Cafe De Flore has made some older classics new again.
+ Nat King Cole's "L-O-V-E (French Version)" is outstanding.
Cafe De Flore V.2 presents some wonderful up beat and swinging jazz classics in both French and English. This collection is not to be compared to the Hotel Costes or Cafe Del Mar collections as Cafe De Flore doesn't include any electro beats whatsoever.
Volume Two is full of quality, cheerful jazz with a high emphasis put on vocal expertise. The songs are clear and well chosen. I can only think of one I have decided to ignore, but that's a personal hate of anything sounding like country music. The compilation choice was very impressive though, with a wide array of entertaining feel-good (boucing) jazz.
To sit back and dream of those big-band days in 50's Paris is no task with Cafe De Flore carressing the ear drums. A wonderful production, and very chic in it's overall performance.
Now Volume One is in the mail to shortly join my CD collection. The Cafe De Flore series definately finds a place in anyone's jazz collection. Infact it's going right next to my Hotel Costes CDs. A different taste of Paris, but equally tasteful. |
