Love it! Submitted on: 2008-10-07 |

| I must say that I was waiting for her cd to come out and to my suprise this cd have been put since 2005 I believe. This cd is great! I love her voice, this is one Diva that can really sing. Im just mad that her cd wasn't advertised like it should have been. I did some research and couldn't belive the album sales. It's not that we don't want to hear her it's the fact that no one knew. Can't wait for the next album to drop! Love you girl! |

Anonymous Voice Submitted on: 2008-04-14 |

| On first listen, I was completely underwhelmed. I thought her voice very anonymous: no personality, emotion or passion. I thought she had a great career as a supper club singer. But after listening a few more times, it's not as bad as my inital impression. One thing is true though: while she is a good techinical singer, her voice is anonymous. And this is a personal preference, I thought this CD was too pop leaning, not enough R&B. Not a great CD, but not throw it against the wall bad either. Judging it as a first effort, I would consider further purchases by her. The songs I liked most were "Scandalous" and "Practice Makes Perfect" |

Hidden Secret -- LL didn't PROMOTE this CD well enough Submitted on: 2007-08-15 |

Loved her on AI. Found her CD on Amazon about five months ago. If you have not purchased it, you should. Best tracks --Learn to Breathe, Meet Me Halfway, I Can't Hide, How I Love the Rain, ALL BY MYSELF. Really a good CD. Reminds me of a female version of Eric Bonet.
Don't think this CD got the promotion it needed to sell well, but it's a good CD.

Mellow Melodies Submitted on: 2007-02-02 |

The first time I listened to this album, I was very impressed. I wanted to hear it again because I really enjoyed the songs and Latoya London's voice. Her soprano flowed graciously over every track. She never overuses her voice, in fact, there were times when her voice was too reserved. However, I always appreciate an artist who has good control over their voice. This is a five star album because I listened to every track and like something about all of them, particularly her voice and the lyrics of the songs. Latoya had many profound lyrics on this album, lyrics that I will remember. This is a very laid back piece of work, giving it's listener a very relaxing mood. Lots of ballads and slow grooves are found throughout.
"Practice Makes Perfect" is one of the best songs here. This song is about maturing and growing with your partner. A very nice hook is found on this song as well. Lyrically, "Anything" and "More" are by far the sexiest songs on London's debut. Although these songs are sexy, London never loses her class, something many of her contemporaries have lost a long time ago. London keeps her promise on "Anything". The lyrics include, "Cook your food in the nude...give you brain until you scream my name." I love it! A memorable rendition of "All By Myself" is found here. I enjoyed this song a lot because London really goes all out vocally, something she does once or twice throughout the album. Here, there listener can really hear her flexible vocal range. "Appreciate" and "Scandalous" are the album's up tempo numbers. I was really grooving to "Appreciate" because of its captivating beat, meaningful lyrics, and the way London uses her voice. This dance song talks about how much women truly do appreciate the men in their lives, even if it isn't said often. "Appreciate" is definitely an album highlight. Lyrically, "Waiting for You" is the most grand song on the album. The words to this song will literally make you stop what you are doing and simply listen. The lyrics are about facing your fears in life, but it just goes deeper than that.
Overall, Latoya London has a fantastic debut. She is a great singer and can really transcend from her "American Idol" loss because she has talent regardless. I recommend this album to someone who's looking for a nice, relaxing album by someone blessed with a very nice voice.

Major disappointment Submitted on: 2007-01-16 |

I really enjoyed Ms. London on the American Idol show, but this release is a real disappointment. The songs on this Cd do not give justice to her voice. I was surprised considering it was released on a Concord label.
Given the right material, Ms. London is great, but this release does not have it. There is too much hip hop r & b and not the serious stuff.I'm hoping the next release will be better. |
