Hope Partlow = Good..... Virgin Records = Annoying Submitted on: 2007-04-27 |

I agree with most opinions here, very good CD, as far as the music goes.
My problem with this CD is that I am forced to use their stupid music player rather than my own player to play this CD on a WinXP computer, at least that's what it seemed. I closed the player the first time it opened because I didn't want to use it. I tried to play it in Windows Media Player, which hung. Then when I tried to 'End Task' on that program, my PC rebooted! Good luck if your goal was to create MP3 to put on your ipod!
If I could return it, I would, solely to punish stupid Virgin Records. What a shame for this new artist to be hindered in such a way. |

Maybe there is "hope" for the future of teenage pop music after all Submitted on: 2007-02-25 |
|
| If teenage girls aspiring to singing careers would try to pattern themselves after Ms. Partlow instead of Britney or Christina, teenage pop music might actually be headed someplace good for a change. Cute (literally), wholesome and full of innocence, she diligently brushes aside the stigma that affect many of today's popsters. Good singing, fresh-sounding instrumentation, no samples, and not the slightest hint of anything naughty make this an album that kids and parents should be able to agree on. |

Good listening. Submitted on: 2007-01-25 |

I love this CD! Hope maybe doesn't exactly have a golden voice, but her song choices work well with it (although I could do without the country aspects of a few of them). I like "Who We Are", love "Don't Go", LOVE "Sick Inside", enjoy "Like You Do," love "It's Too Late", love "Cold", and like "Through It All". Also the second-to-last track, "Let Me Try", is super pretty. Norah Jones sort of lingers on the edges, but the song is initially Hope's.
This is an easy listen, good for hanging out, without anything trashy or unnescessarily depressing. I like it and I love Hope! She needs to come out with another album, and soon! |

Very Talented Singer Hindered Only By Arcane Copy Protection Submitted on: 2006-07-14 |
|
| I most strongly concur with all of the very postive reviews!!! However, it truly is regrettable that this supurb and very promising emerging talent will be held back due to the fact that her record label crippled her by placing arcane copy protection on her freshman effort. At a time when they should be trying to maximize her exposure, they are hindering it instead. I will be first in line to buy the album WITHOUT copy protection, if that ever happens. It inexcusable that Hope is subjected to being penalized for the ignorance and backward thinking of Virgin Records. I wish the very best to Hope and look forward to her future releases without Copy Protection. |

Tell me why my television's filling me with lies (copy protection...blah blah blah) Submitted on: 2006-05-19 |

I like pop music. For the most part, it's just a release from the seriousness of rock and the degradation of rap. I like to think I'm not hard to please music-wise, so after I heard all the high-praising reviews for Hope Partlow's Who We Are I got anxious. So anxious in fact that I listened to Sick Inside before I bought it. I liked it a lot and figured the rest of the CD would just fall into place behind it. Sadly, for me at least, it didn't.
Hope has a very strong voice, plain and simple. Songs like Who We Are, Don't Go, and Sick Inside show that, but there are times throughout this CD where you're left wanting more. In my eyes there are too many times where she could've sang a certain part different and that could've made that song better. Also, the music for the most part is just completely lame. Case in point, Girlfriend. I mean come on, the entire song sounds used. If you're gonna reuse music like that you might as well have just had Hope do a cover song.
So you might be wondering if Hope Partlow is just another pretty pop singer with no real depth. Well, yes and no really. To me it sounds like she's just trying to find 'her' sound. Hope is a lot like Britney Spears really, if you listen to Britney's first two records the songs jump from genre to genre. However, nowadays she sticks with the sexy, limited vocal, dance-type songs. If Hope continues to make music I'm sure her next CD will be a huge step up from this one.
My favorite songs are Who We Are, Don't Go, Sick Inside, and It's Too Late. At the end of the day Hope is still young and you can't fault her for trying different styles. She has a lot of potential and hopefully (no pun intended) we'll hear from her again soon. |
