Beautiful Story Submitted on: 2009-11-16 |

I can't figure out whether this movie is for kids or adults, so I'll say it's for thoughtful/mature children and childlike adults. It's a beautiful story of a kid who finds a huge bag of British pounds. What happens to the money is laced with humor and quirky adventure. The child is young enough to have a pure heart and still know right from wrong. I would say the major theme of the film is money and its effect on people. Sub-themes include dealing with the death of a mother, Christmas, Saints, and moving.
The movie is fairly clean. There is some brief mild language and cleavage. Two young boys look closely at woman in a bra on the internet in a non-hormonal manner. There are some scarey parts too.
The portrayal of Mormons by the filmmakers is pretty silly. They did have a kid in a wheelchair as an extra--nice to see! |

This film is among the best i have ever seen. It's a kids film that adults can enjoy. The story is wonderful, the humor is witty, and those kids were just marvelous actors!!
I like this movie because they don't sugar coat everything unlike stupid American kids films these days.
This movie is truly fresh air. i absolutely love it and can't wait to watch it again and reccomend it to everyone!
A MUST SEE!!!! |

Almost Good - Definitely Original Submitted on: 2009-05-26 |

| Delightful story of a boy who thinks a million pounds thrown from a train is a gift from God. All he wants to do is give the money away to the poor, but his financially astute older brother has other ideas. The boys periodic chats with long-dead saints adds a nice touch of history and fantasy. Two things spoil the movie, however. There is some embarrassingly obvious product-placement ads and there is a scene of a near-naked lingerie model that turns an otherwise family-friendly movie into something that can cause parents to blush. |

Millions is a wonderful movie that presents a little boy's faith in God and how his faith affects others. I watched it first without the grandkids, and while it was sweet, I thought it might be a bit over their heads. The movie is set in Manchester England and the accents are very heavy. I was afraid the kids would have a hard time understanding, but they caught on faster than I did. The cinematography was unusual but seemed to contribute to the children's enjoyment. All watched the entire movie with rapt attention. (this a really saying something, because they normally don't sit still that long). At the end they where all sitting there with mouths open in astonishment.
They are 7, 10 and 12. All loved it and wanted to watch it two more times that weekend! The next week they wanted to watch it again. It is clean and full of valuable lessons. It made real how the saints help us. Recommended especially for Orthodox and Roman Catholic families.
Mom's should watch first because of the scary villain guy and to tiny parts that may cause concern. |
