Emotionally Moving Submitted on: 2009-05-16 |

This CD to me shows the dedication Marty has for the Great Sioux Nation.
Marty speaks of significant Elders, Warriors, and the devasation at Wounded Knee. Thank you Marty for speaking the truth and once again bringing it to the light. I would definitely recommend this to others.
Thank you for your prompt delivery of this CD. |

No Words Can Describe The Best Album Of All Time, But I Will Attempt Submitted on: 2009-01-25 |

One day about two years ago I was cleaning my kitchen. Suddenly, XM's 'outlaw country' played the track "Three Chiefs".
My life changed that day. I immediately purchased the album. It is almost the only album that I listen to anymore. I have since taken a boxtruck full of blankets and a Semi full of linens and furniture to Pine Ridge Concentration Camp. My awareness of this situation is 100% due to this album. If you read this and don't purchase this album, the only person you are hurting is yourself. I will leave the comments on the album alone. Suffice it to say, the album changed my life. If you listen to it, really LISTEN to it.. it should change yours as well. My life is filled with issues, and the native issue is now a major one of them. I am doing what I can to help that issue. I owe it all to Marty. Thank you Mr. Stuart, I can't express my thanks enough. |

| This was a birthday gift for my husband who is Shawnee/Anishnabe and has a strong connection to his Lakota brothers. He was quite moved by the words and music of Marty Stuart, an accomplished musician. His treatment of the sensitive nature of both historical and current treatment of Native Americans is exemplary. It is obvious that he has empathy and understanding for the First Americans. |

Amazing album Submitted on: 2006-05-12 |

An extraordinary and evocative album. The songs are first-rate: rich, varied, and beautifully done. It's a concept album that truly works, carrying you beyond the music and into another corner of the world. You can hear the compassion and understanding that went into the creation of the album but it's not pedantic or overly didactic (like I'm being by using those words).
This is my first Marty Stuart album, bought sort of by chance and sort of because of a great review in the All Music Guide. I'm not someone who typically listens to a lot of 'country music', but this transcends its genre, like the best music tends to do, because of its subject matter, the songwriting craft, and the soul behind the writing. The All Music Guide review said something about it raising the bar for country music albums, but I would say it does this for other genres of music as well.
It succeeded in making me more compassionately aware of its subject matter as well as convincing me as a musician and music afficianado that I've got to see what else I've been missing with this Marty Stuart guy... |
