Bear takes the tiger by the tail... Submitted on: 2009-10-31 |

This is one of the better soundtracks that you can experience, TV, Movie, or otherwise. I can only imagine the obstacles that McCreary encountered, and by taking the tiger by the tail, Bear created a near-masterpiece of sound and rhythm.
With the great writing, cast, and presentation of BSG, it's very easy to overlook the impact that music had upon the series. As I return and watch the episodes once again, I pay special attention to the background tracks, which definitely enhance the overall experience.
Episodic, evocative, and melodic...this is one terrific CD that you can listen to over and over again. Well done by all involved! |

BSG Season 2 Audio CD Submitted on: 2009-09-12 |

| This is another splendid set of musical compositions by Bear McCreary that provided much of the mood behind the popular television show, Battlestar Galactica. I enjoy a great variety of music and consider him to be a very gifted composer. |

As great as the season one soundtrack was ... this was even better Submitted on: 2009-06-15 |

It is the rare TV show where the music becomes as iconic and transformative as the show itself, and yet with Battlestar Galactica that is exactly the case. The show would not be the same with a "generic" soundtrack running in the background, and it is always a delight to see what delightful melody (or exotic instrument) Bear McCreary will come up with next. And as wonderful as the season one soundtrack was, McCreary really comes into his own with the second season. There is more variety, greater elaboration on themes established in season one, and I believe greater comfort with the musical tone being set for the series. The only disappointment with the season two soundtrack (and likely unavoidable due to copyright) is the absence of the beautiful Metamorphosis One which plays in the "Valley of Darkness" episode, although this track is easy to find (it's on Philip Glass' Solo Piano album). Speaking of Philip Glass, people who like the music of Battlestar Galactica should check out his compositions, as some of his piano music and also his work with strings seems to have been an influence for the more "classical" parts of the Battlestar Galactica repertoire.
If you like the music of Battlestar Galactica, you'll like this soundtrack. Go get it! |

Solid. (FYI: Track 1 is all instrumental) Submitted on: 2009-04-09 |

| This is an enjoyable soundtrack that other reviewers describe aptly. I will add only that Track 1, "Colonial Anthem (Theme from Battlestar Galactica)," from the 2nd season's episode, "Final Cut," is all-instrumental even though there is also a chorus singing during one section of the Anthem in "Final Cut." I admit to being sorely disappointed that the choral element was not included in Track 1. |

jaw dropping drama Submitted on: 2009-01-18 |

Battlestar Galactica (BG) is not your usual Sci Fi show.
BG is involved, well written, good special effects but very dark. It has very little in common with the original Loren Green show.
There are scenes that cause you to rewind; "did he just do what I think he did" and "I can't believe they (the writers) did that to "x"".
It is not for kids - this is not a kids show, it is smart, with very adult themes. People are killed in the show (even main characters), they have complex personalities and there is a lot of mystery as to what is going to happen next.
As with Babylon 5, the show is on a multi- season story arc and is really a drama set in space. Stuff that happens in season 2 effects judgement in season 4 and so on.
This is season 2 - so you missed a bunch so go get season one and you will want to continue.
Addictive show unlike anything else on TV.
