 Break up/healing CD

| This is a good cd, however, I would recommend this after a breakup or an epiphany in life. When this CD was released, I was just getting out of a bad relationship and this cd helped me heal from a mature and healing perspective. It's very good, but it had to grow on me. I would encourage any and everyone to give it a chance and listen to it. |

 Music to heal a broken heart

| This is the first India Arie album that I've purchased. The title perfectly embodies what each song portrays. For me, I was touched by the lyrics to most of the songs because they reached me on a personal level, namely "Heart of the Matter", "Good Mourning", and "Wings of Forgiveness". I especially liked her arrangement of "Heart of the Matter", which was originally done by the Eagles. It goes without saying that India Arie is an incredibly talented musician and songwriter. She has the unique ability to write songs that can only be enhanced that much more by her beautifully soulful voice. But what I love most about her music is that it encourages hope and optimism amidst pain and heartache. It expresses the freedom of forgiveness and accepting ourselves for what we are. As a woman who has had her heart broken, I can attest to the true healing power of the songs in this album. By the end of the last song, the listener will have a bright new perspective on life. |

 Disappoiningly didactic

| She was fresh and fun and jaunty on her debut album. That has basically disappeared on this set of music, which is not only preachy but also pretty shallow in its thoughts and banal musically. It appears that she has anointed herself as a spokesperson for traditional values that she wants all of us to embrace. So much for this artist... |

| I've loved India Arie's music ever since she came out with her first album and I will continue to enjoy her music. If you want something that you can relate to, makes u think, and be thankful for being who you are not matter the circumstances or what you thought about yourself, try this. She is so encouraging in her music and she teaches as well. I LOVE IT!!!! |

| I understand that every artist wants to grow...however I wasn't impressed with her growth on this album. It was a decent album overall but nothing like her first one. My favs on the album is "Private Party" and "There's Hope". Though the album is less personal it does allow you to put life into perspective and causes you to look inside of your self and realize what you have. |
