First off, does anyone even know this album exists? There's not even an editorial review for it on here. Anyway, I came across this album from Natalie entitled Everything New, and although I wasn't too impressed with her self-titled album, I still decided to give it a listen.

Natalie's vocal skills are a tad better, but with this album she still doesn't break any new ground. And there are a lot of corny selections on here, especially "My Candy", which talks about her goods. "Dance With Me" is also pretty okay, and it isn't helped by the hectic beat. There are also a couple of songs featuring some rapper named Rob G, and he definitely doesn't bring much to the party, as evidenced by "Pieces" and "Slow Dance" (and shouldn't a song called "Slow Dance" be slow?). And like on the first album, Natalie once again tries to RAP on the title track, with lackluster results.

Another thing that happens here that is typical to Baby Bash-related albums is that the bonus track is a song that was already on the first album, namely "Goin' Crazy". But maybe I shouldn't have mentioned Bash because he isn't involved at all on here (I guess he's too busy promoting Paula DeAnda). At any rate, Everything New is better than Natalie's first album, but that's not saying much.

Is There Really Anything New About Natalie's Sophomore Album?
Submitted on: 2007-01-03
This was released? Really I had no idea Natalie, the one who spinned off the 2005 hits "Goin' Crazy" and "Energy", had a sophomore album until Amazon listed this on my "Recommended for You" page. Also, am I one of about three people who owned this album? Sorry, but too many reviews on here seem a bit like Universal reps (even more suspicious that they also rated JoJo's album 5 stars). Anyuway, I did in fact buy her debut, and was midly impressed with it. Also I've heard the single "What You Gonna Do?", which is a good track that has a good bump in the trunk production and a good addition from Bun-B, a member of UGK. So, why not check out her second album, Everything New? I'll tell you, its not all that and a bag of chips. I expected something at least as good as her self-titled debut, but this album is mostly composed of wanna-be dance song and weak R&B ballads with a few sprinkled in potiental singles.

Although with all these Amazon raving reviews, I have to be honest and real, Natalie is not a great singer. Actually, not much better than Brooke Hogan or Ciara, but not quite as good as average singers Ashanti or Nelly Furtado. It's blantly obvious that the vocals on this CD are hidden beneath the mountain of studio configuration. "All Of My Life" is a slow-tempoed and soft R&B ballad that wants to be Janet Jackson but can't hide that it's still Samantha Mumba. This song does also lack in production and sounds a bit loopy, and Natalie's vocals don't help the track. Songs like "Pieces" and "When I Was With You" get the best out of Natalie's very limited vocal range, but still would have much more potential with a stronger vocalist. "Call Me Up" is another likeable track, that is a solid mid-tempoed R&B track with a slight Jamacian sound to it, but is unfortunately killed lyrically, especially when the third line is "Automatically Saved".

This disc does have a few experimental songs (if you can call them that). "My Candy" is a fair dance song, heavy in syntheisers and light on vocals. It's not very enjoyable, especially some lyrics here are questionable enough ("I got that sugar daddy/that's why you want me/don't you wish you can taste it"), but at least its not terrible. A song like "Dance With Me" is probably the album's worst offender and is more of a pathetic excuse for a dance-song that incorporates Radio Disney big time with its guitared, overly synthed looping production. Natalie does really nothing to the song, as she doesn't have a ton of experience to do so, and she sounds dumb when she tries to hyper her voice were she sounds, well, not the age of a double-digit. Similar tracks "Slow Dance" with a Michael Jackson wannabe production has a weak chorus and the so below average "Heartbreaker" isn't even worth mentioning. Saliana's production on "If You Only Knew" is decent but it can't save tne song from Natalie's below average vocals and annoying lyrics like ("I know you want it/come on over and jump on it/on and on/on and on"). "Turnin' Me On" really goes nowhere, at this point I was sick of listening to this album but it sounds like a really, really rushed pop/dance track that's too disorganized to enjoy. And who stole Kanye West's chipmunk? But wait, hold everything! She can rap, well, not really. "Everything New" is an average rap track where Natalie sounds a bit like a watered-down Eve. She's not an amazing rapper, but she's a better rapper than a singer by far. The production on the track his a bit full, lots of horns and percussion that sounds a bit overproduced.

Natalie's sophomore album unfortunately something I call a sophomore slump. It has the catchy single "What You Gonna Do?", the well produced "Pieces", and maybe one or two other songs that are worth listening to, but the bad far outbalances the good. Yet another Natalie album overrated by Amazon users. Is it a bad album? No, but it's below average. Is it worth your time or money? Only if you're a huge fan of the last album, and even then I'd listen to some clips before making your purchase. 2 stars.

Track Picks:
"What You Gonna Do?"
"Pieces"
"Goin' Crazy" (this track is for some reason on this album)
Absolutely fantastic @}->---

You know how sometimes you might need to hear a cd more than two or three times before you get a feel for it and begin to either like or hate it? Well I didn't even get to the end of this the first time round before I fell in love with it. It's brilliant and I can't speak highly enough of it.
I have her first cd too and it's different to that. That was also a great cd, but this beats it. It's a little edgier and more mature and funkier. The absolute best standout songs are the funky If You Only Knew, Slow Dance, Everything New (amazing) and the stunning the beautiful Love You So. That has samples of K.W.S's song Please Don't Go (which in itself was a remake of KC and the Sunshine Band's song).
She does a little rap through the cd (which she doesn't do too badly) and she while she doesn't have a powerhouse voice, she's so nice to listen to and she's done an amazing job. It's such a great cd and I hope you love it as much as I do. I put it on my iPod instantly and listen to it everywhere I go. It's fantastic.

I'm a big fan of 80's freestyle music and I know Natalie remade that song "I Love You So," but does anyone remember the original title and who sang it? I can't find it anywhere and I was only a child back in the 80's so I can't really remember all of the songs! I thought it was Timmy T, but I'm not sure who the original artist is! Any help would be great! Thanks!
