Japanese One-Man Band Strikes Again Submitted on: 2008-05-02 |
|
I hang around a lot of "Japanophiles" and Miyavi's name gets tossed around by them a lot. I tend to not buy into hype and this guy gets hyped all over the place, from conventions to concerts etc. But, I had $15 burning a hole in my pocket so I picked this album up. My first impression, within the first minute of the cd was: Wow. This guy can REALLY play guitar. I was expecting some sugary Japanese pop music, but I was rewarded with surprisingly soulful and complex music. I could listen to him play guitar all day, it just catches you.
So, if you're a guitar enthusiast and enjoy bluesy/jazzy acoustic guitar playing with some good vocal accompaniment, pick this up. This guy will definitely surprise you. I can't wait to pick up his other stuff (I hear its electric but he already proves he's got the chops to play guitar) and see what else he's got.
Get this! |

| My daughter loves Miyavi's work so thought that I would order her this CD. It came very quickly and without any hitches. So glad to have received such great service. Will certainly order this way again. |

Miyavi's Crazy...and I love it! Submitted on: 2007-06-24 |
|
| I was a fan of Miyavi's earlier rock works, which involved a lot of screaming on his part. This album is very different. It's mostly accoustic guitar and percussion accompanying Miyavi's purring and fevered vocals. While this album isn't electric, it's full of energy. Miyavi is a fountain of hyperactivity, growling and slapping his guitar. I only speak a little Japanese so I can't really vouch for the quality of the lyrics (he sure says "love" a lot) but the music is outstanding. The album is fun, catchy and gets better on each listen. Above all, though, it's unique. Highly recommended. |

J-Rock Submitted on: 2007-06-22 |

| I love this CD! It has a lot of instrumental but I like his guitar playing. To me it is just a CD you can put on and go about your day. I really like the intro and Selfish love the most but I like the other songs as well. If you want to try something that is not plain old pop then try Miyaviuta. If you want to check out Miyavi before you buy the cd go to youtube and check him out. |

A pleasant surprise Submitted on: 2006-09-20 |
|
| I stumbled upon Miyavi while browsing around the web the other day and got a copy of this CD straight from Japan before it was released here. I must say, it is excellent. While Miyavi is known for rock primarilly, this CD is pretty much entirely accoustic guitar. Miyavi plays the accoustic guitar extremely well all the while adding in his own percussion through the occasional slapping of the guitar face. In some cases he is even a one-man band entirely. This CD really showcases his talents as a musician and I highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Miyavi or a fan of great music in general. You can't go wrong. |
