This film was amazing!!! It was so l, and the same could be said for the soundtrack!! It puts you back in time to that exact moment of the film!
This is a MUST for all those who enjoy soundtracks.
The mixture of vocals and instruments are spectacular!
Should go down as one of the greatest soundtracks of all time! |

Usual Tan Dun- Excellent Submitted on: 2007-11-11 |

| This is different than Tan Dun's other soundtracks-like "Hero" or "Crouching Tiger," in as far as hey relies less on orchestration and opts for a more mellow sounding track. There is a lot of very low key (but beautiful) piano music, at times punctuated by an orchestra, with some chorus (not much-def NOT like Hero). But to me personally, the best part of this soundtrack is when Tengger- acclaimed Mongolian folk singer lends his voice. I think this was the best choice. His voice can be heard in the film as well, at the beginning, when Daniel Wu is doing his infamous semi-ballet scene at a southern Chinese theatrical school (supposedly). However, just that one song was worth the purchase of the cd in my opinion, since it shows Tengger's brilliant vocal range and ability. Its still one of my favorite songs that he sings (and I own some of his other music). This cd is worth buying, just if you like Tan Dun and want something more low key, or if you like Tengger, or if you were obsessed with the movie.. |

Tan Dun, How can you not love him? Submitted on: 2006-10-01 |

| Simply put, the soundtrack will take your breath away. The Banquet is the best interpretation of Shakespeare's Hamlet so far. And Tan Dun's music has played a major role in helping the motion picture to jump to an awesome level of artistic achievement. In this world where great screenplays are scarce, adapting the immortal masterpiece to interesting backdrop is a very smart thing to do as a filmmaker. |
