who knew Submitted on: 2009-09-19 |

| Who Knew? Yes, that is what I said! Who knew that Crowe could do such an amazing job on dry witt in a comedy. This movie was a breath of fresh air. Just delightful! All the actors were cast so perfectly, and the wonderful views of the rural Italy were just so breathtakingly soft to the eye. I loved this movie so much that I even bought the soundtrack. A treat for the eyes, ears, and heart! |

| This music reminds me of the movie and our own trips to the South (of France). |

The soundtrack for the movie is spectacular. It is perfect for a lonely lazy afternoon or for a night out with the lady after a candlelight dinner. It's inspiring, romantic and adventurous without being too much of either of them...in short, blissful!
If you've liked the movie like i have then you might be a little disappointed at not having a few songs on the OST such as the track that plays in most trailers of the movie and that plays when he's driving the tiny Smart car (Moi Lolita - Alizee) or the song that plays in the open air restaurant just before it starts raining down (Boum - Charles Trenet).
Overall though, the score is perfect! |

John Thaw, Russell Crowe, both great Peter Mayle characters Submitted on: 2009-04-16 |

| I love the Peter Mayle stories. I love the concept, the beautiful old French manor house, the vineyards, and the interesting French characters. I spent a year and a half in France in the US Army and I loved every minute of it. It was MOST interesting and exciting and I especially loved the countryside and the quaint, ubiquitous French villages and especially the tremendous historical treasury that fills the entire country. Peter Mayle, in his biographical work, "A Year in Provence" used John Thaw to portray himself during the year it took to restore his wonderful old chateau in Provence. But in this movie, "A Good Year", a fictional story decorates the same chateau (I believe it is) and region that has several love stories combined. First, there is Russell Crowes' love for himself (very nacissistic) and his growth of character which leads to him falling in love with a charming French girl and his long lost niece all the while his love grows for the legacy his late uncle has left him...the chateau and the environs. A very satisfying movie visually and emotionally and I loved every moment of it! I recommend highly, especially for Peter Mayle and Russell Crowe fans! |

For Those with Eclectic Taste Submitted on: 2009-03-13 |

The CD/movie has a fabulous assortment of music, from piano bar to French humorist styles. The CD is an eclectic assortment though. So, if you like piano jazz and music of old like El Mundo, I believe you will like this CD.
If you are a person that likes mainstream music this CD is not for you. The CD is purely for the piano bar aficionados.
