Customer Reviews of This Album/CD

good album
Submitted on: 2009-10-14
I bought this based on the reviews. This is a very good album. In fact atll the songs are good
and the subject matter based on a soldier's life is interesting. I like how Blackie creates these concepts. Makes for an interesting listen as opposed to hearing about drugs and sex, etc..
He's an underrated musician.
Wasp and Beyond

This album was an import and not a domestic release. I am so curious as to why? this album clearly shows a W.A.S.P. that has grown over the years. Blackies voice is still raw and raspy, the guitars are clean and drums send the beat. Over the years Blackie has written more political and Religious songs that are for our time and place. This is a crazy world and seems to be getting worse and Blackie says it like it is, calls a spade a spade.

Heavens Hung in Black is a great ballad, the meaning is even better. One thing for sure is W.A.S.P or Blackie can really bring forth a great Ballad.

Tracks 1-3 are very cool.

the beats on Mercy and Long, Long way to go are awesome! the tunes are heavier and still carries that unique wasp sound. Heavens Blessed is a cool song, still trying to figure that one out. Reading the lyrics makes one think Blackie may have found God, if so that's awesome and would support him even further as he brings the old W.A.S.P. fans into yet another year of rockin!

The Burning man is a heavy tune, and equally parallel with tracks 1-3, its just a real good album, i gave it 5 stars, it is my favorite so far!

Long Live Rock n Roll, and Blackie Lawless!

I've always enjoyed Wasp, since their debut album they have ben a band I've kept an eye on. They have put out some great tunes over the years and unfortunately, have also put out some sub par offerings as well.

However this offering is one of Blackie's better efforts over the last ten years or so. It has good riffs and excellent lyrics. The man has always had something to say and this one continues in that vain. You're not going to find any girls girls girls on here, it is as with most Wasp releases a lot deeper than that. Yeah Wasp is still considered by most metal fans as a hair metal band, but when you stop and think about it, they have always for the most part anyway, had a certain substance in their music.

If you'd enjoyed Wasp in the past, you'll more than likely find something on here that says something to you.

It's a good solid effort!
It pretty much sounds like Classic W.A.S.P. which is good, but also bad

I was surprised that W.A.S.P. had released any material during the 2000's, so I backtracked a bit, got some of the so called newer material, and found some albums that were good, and others that were not. "Dominator" is pretty good, but that being said, I am impressed that the band has pretty much stuck to their classic sound, which shows that they are in it for "the music" and not changing over to another style just to play what everyone else is playing. But the bad news to this is that the band really hasnt matured that much, and even though the line-up had been shuffled through the years, I thought that some of the 80's type sound with the ohh's, ahhh's, and hot licking guitar solos, along with a pretty simple drum beat, would have been eliminated, or not as over-used. This doesnt happen with every song though. The first two tracks seem a bit more mature, with some better guitar work and drumming, then well, not that the rest of the songs suck, but some just seem a bit out of time. I dont want them sounding like Nickelback or some other god-awful modern rock or metal act, but it would be nice to have shown more maturity musically. Has Blackies lyrics matured. Yes, or course, that is one thing that has impressed me, but still, something just wants me yearning more maturity in the bands sound throughout the entire album. As you can see, I am half on the fence, half off. Once again, I will give the Band complete credit for going through two decades of music, and never trying to fit into "a scene" They were what they always were. West Coast Metal. When the West Coast Metal scene become a laughing stock with bad ballads and just overkill on metal bands hitting the scene, WASP kept it real. 1989 was a huge year the crossover began, and bands like Ratt, fell apart at the seems along with many others, but WASP goes ahead and releases "The Headless Children" about us un hair as u could get for the time...
