You definitely are! Submitted on: 2009-08-20 |

| This is currently my favorite CD. I take it with me everywhere, to work, in the car and back home. This CD is fantastic. Just about all of the songs are really beautiful, touching and thoughtful. This is the only CD I have that I can play all the way through without needing to skip tracks. I prefer this album to Epiphany although the title track on that one is awesome. I'd recommend "I Am" to anyone that loves good music. |

Chrisette Michele Review Submitted on: 2009-06-17 |

| This is a remarkable young lady. Her vocal style reminds me of Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holliday and other Jazz greats. She has such a rich tone to her voice. I think Jazz would be a perfect genre for her. No other genre would fully showcase her talent. I just love this CD! I have listened to samples of her Sophomore album. It does not compare to this one. She should stick to a more Jazz style. My favorite songs are Your Joy and Golden. They touch you down deep. Very soulful. |

| Talk about a beautiful voice. This girl is superb. I love all the songs on the album. It has variation, from light to heavy but organised such that you can enjoy the flow. A good listen |

Nothin but the Truth; sho' nuff! Submitted on: 2009-01-14 |

While I want to avoid sounding repetitive, there's no other way to describe the voice of this very talented lady, as anything short of amazing. I, myself, am 25 years old, and prefer my own cd collection of jazz, old school R&B, and neo-soul to that of the radio or even music television; that was until I heard the voice of this angel. Chrisette blew me away with her debut song, "If I Have My Way," (I listened to it for 6 days before ever turning it off) and she kept me hooked with "Golden" and "Mr. Radio," just to name a couple.
I have waited for so long to come across the right blend of now and then and I've finally found it in Chrisette Michele. Before, I was limited to my collection of R&B acts of yesteryear, which included (my favorite) Luther Vandross, Anita Baker, and Sade; and even my reliably successful Neo-Soul favorites: Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, India.Arie, Alicia Keys, Kindred the Family Soul, Vivian Green, Musiq Soulchild, the Roots, Lauryn Hill, and Anthony Hamilton. But now, it's like a breath of fresh air, in this new-comer, who is sure to be around for many years to come. Not to knock the neo-soul pioneers who've pumped out favorite after new-favorite, year after year. But there's something special about this one. Something that conjures up the funk and intelligence of Erykah's music, with a little pinch of Jill's creativity and depth to create the perfect mixture of nostalgia, flavor, and soul; with a voice that'll assuredly knock your socks off. Welcome to the world of music Miss Chrisette Michele Payne. We welcome you! |
