Sara needs to do it again! Submitted on: 2009-10-30 |

October 30th, 2009
Songs such as the longing of 'City' and calmness of 'Between The Lines' set the mood perfectly. 'Love Song', 'One Sweet Love' and 'Come Round Soon' are also very solid tracks. The delight that is 'Many The Miles' and the sadness of 'Gravity' pull you in (no pun intended). And the piano in 'Love On The Rocks' is pretty cool. But on the disc, Sara didn't even play it; Jamie Muhoberac did.
I just got the actual CD today and 'Morningside' is filler to me. But the rest of the tracks are OK, but nothing great. 'Bottle It Up', the second single off the album was never a track I loved, but it is OK. I did always like how she uses the s-word in said song.
Inside the booklet, it says who played what instrument in the beginning of the lyrics to each song and it also lets you know that Sara Bareilles wrote every track by herself towards the end of the booklet, except said 'Love On The Rocks' which was co-written by Javier Dunn.
4 stars from me.

Edit: Wiki says that Sara is working hard on her next project and she is collaborating with Questlove from The experimental rap group The Roots. There is no due date so far. I would like to see her do an R&B-flavored song or two, but I actually don't want her to change up her style completely. I think if she crafts what she works with, she can come even harder with her sophomore effort. |

The non trashy Katy Perry... Submitted on: 2009-08-12 |

| I know there's really no comparison but they both have Vegas songs, only that Sara's is about going to Vegas and Katy's is about Waking up In Vegas. Sara had a catchy single with Love Song, however the words and music have gotten slightly annoying to me due to being overplayed on the radio. The rest of the album is great but no classic. I hope that her second album will be even better. |

pure, honest Submitted on: 2009-06-11 |

| What strikes me most about this album is the purity of Bareilles' voice. Pure, unwavering, melodic tones. The songwriting is barebones honest, piano artfully percussive. What a strong start for a solid artist. |

Incredible variety and talent! Submitted on: 2009-05-27 |

| If you like albums that contain same-ish songs, look somewhere else, this is a fantastic variety of catchy pop, ballads, and other amazing offerings. Sara has done a great job of putting together a piece of work that keeps toes tapping and the repeat buttons pressed. Her top 40 "Love Song" in my opinion is only the tip of the iceberg. Listen to "Vegas", "One Sweet Love", and "Love on the Rocks" just see how nicely varied her music is. "Fairytale" is one of my favorites for the lyrics, and I love the chances she took here with being humorous, truthful, and emotionally invested in her writing. I don't get tired of this album at all, and smile when I hear her songs come up on my playlist every time. |
