| I bought this cd just after it came out, having owned and enjoyed many of H&O's albums. When I finished listening to it for the first time I was stunned by the fact that each and every song is thoroughly enjoyable, no throw-away songs here! This is Daryl Hall at his funky smooth best. I'd best describe the music on the album as gorgeous, and since that purchase I have listened to it more than all but two or three other cds in my collection. The music is not dated and is just at fun to listen to today as when new. I see no need to review each song, as they're all good. Just buy the cd, grab a smooth Shiner Bock out of the fridge, lean back in your easy chair and enjoy! |

| I first heard this at the dentist! I put on the headphones and settled in for drilling. At the first note, I was hooked! Song after song was fantastic! I went out and bought it immediately. All the tunes are extremely funky and soulful. I don't know why this wasn't a bigger hit, it's really a terrific CD. Every song is catchy and your head will be bobbing and your feet will be tapping. Buy it. |

| What can i say about Daryl Hall? The hair ??? The body? The voice? The talent? I am bowled over by his sexiness and mind-blowing talent. All of the songs transport you to BLISS. I don't know how he does it. How does he think up this music and the way he performs !! I am besotted to the max. I can't get enough. When I think one is my favorite and he can't top it HE DOES with the next song. Genius. I never knew and am so happy that at last am discovering this fabulous talent but dismayed that it has taken me so long. I am furious that I missed Hall and Oates at the Troubador in Los Angeles. |

Daryl Hall's best solo album - hands down!

Looking back at four Daryl Hall solo albums, I still think SOUL ALONE is his best. I listened to this album everyday for tw years, I think. Yes that's a little crazy, but I was pretty obsessed - so even though it's a very Philly album, it will always remind me of walking around downtown New York City. While there are some songs that simply aren't as good as others, the album has a specifically cohesive sound - something different from most Hall and Oates albums. Upbeat, catchy, and filled with string arrangements, SOUL ALONE is a great release and deserves another listen.
