Great Album...but buyer beware!

This is another great Sheavy disc maybe their best to date...great heavy sound and grooving tunes you'd expect from them. But beware I purchased the Canadian version from another seller and track 6 "Rings Of Saturn" to me one of the best songs on the disc has a glich at 39 - 40 seconds into the song...I was told by this seller it was a manufacturing defect and that the label wasn't going to fix the problem...so if you buy this check it out and see if yours is good...to me it wasn't worth the aggrivation of sending it back...needless to say I won't be buying anything from that seller who I'll leave nameless again...since he knew in advance the pressings were bad...his excuse people would rather have it with the glich than not have...I for one would rather not have the glich!!!!!!
Thick, Fat, Head-crushing Stoner/doom!!

This is without a doubt the heaviest offering to date from the Sheavy guys.

The opening slab, 'The Sleeping Assassin,' attacks your brain pan like a sonic blast.
From there, there's very little reprieve from the metal attack and fans of the stoner/doom sound will find this to be a most pleasurable onslaught.

Much has been made about the comparison of Sheavy to Black Sabbath, mainly because of the uncanny resemblance of Steve Hennessey's vocals to a younger, healthier Ozzy Osbourne.
Oddly enough, while this album comes closer to capturing that 'Sabbath vibe' [thanks in large part to songs like 'Humanoid,' 'Where Earth Meets Sky,' 'Lords of Radiation,' and the uber-heavy, 'Dawn of the Black Orchid'], it also serves to dispel the 'Sabbath ripoff' label that some of the more jaded old schoolers have attempted to saddle Sheavy with.

Songs like 'Aboard the Mothership,' 'Demon Soldiers,' 'The Gunfighters' and 'One of Us Must Be Dead' boast impressive dual guitar work and sets these guys apart as a band worthy of standing solely on their merits as artists and not as just another group of Sabbath babies.

I purchased the cd/dvd set. Since Sheavy don't tour the US often, I'm glad that there are at least a couple of concert dvds available to satiate my Sheavy lust.

The concert footage was pretty uncomplicated, with no grainy cinematography for 'artistic' effect or motion-sickness-inducing fast-stop action. You get several different angles and the occasional split screen, but that's about as ambitious as the camera work gets and that's a welcome change from many concert videos i've seen.

The audio and visual are near-flawless and after a little over an hour of watching Steve Hennessey thrash and treat the stage like his personal playground, I'M exhausted!! It's impossible to watch this guy and not feel like thrashing, yourself.

The special features consist of a slideshow, which is kinda cool, even though most of the pics are too dark to really make anything out.
There's also a 2-song performance by Sheavy from a Canadian show called 'Out of the Fog' that's pretty cool.

This is a definite 5-star piece of work from Sheavy and if you've never heard of them before but are curious, it's a good place to start and work your way backwards from there.
So Over Priced, WHO CARES!?

So this THIRTY FIVE DOLLAR offering doesn't even include the dvd mentioned in the previous review? How do they justify charging so much then? Other bands have managed to include bonus dvd or cd (amon amarth, Lordi, Dream Theater, Heaven and Hell, Nightwish, etc.) without raping their fans financially. SCREW these guys. They're good, but not THAT good.
So overlooked its a SHAME !!!!

The Machine That Won the War, is the latest release from canadian based sabathesque and awesome band Sheavy, they have been struggling against the musical mainstream since the last decade, they are real survivors, Steve Henessy proves in the particular epecial limited edition cd+dvd (wich is no offered here in Amazon USA) that his awesome and overwhelming Ozzy Osbourne sound-alike vocals are not a technoligical trick special effect or mixing manipulation judging by the performance registered live in a teather in St. Johns in march 2007 , Sheavy now a five piece band offer a stunning concert full of energy great guitars and incredible quality sound, the tracks played in this concert are mostly part of this new album, "lords of radiation" is one of the highest points along with "one of Us must be dead", "humanoid" "aboard the mothership" and "The Gunfighters"
but theres also featured cuts like "the electric sleep" from the same entitled album and "saving me from myself", also "celestial hi-fi" from their 3rd release, over an hour of live concert and special features from tv apareances in Canadian television , regarding the album , they sound more powerfull with the addition of a second guitarrist wich allows the lead guitar focus more on the riffs section without abandon the rithym guitar sounds wich of course in studio recordings can easily be arranged but in live presentations require more than one guitar player to keep the continuity, lyrics are this time focused on sci-fi, technological war and bellicose confrontations topics wich perhaps are based on Sabbaths cuts like "Iron Man" for instance, the constant change rithyms in every song make of all the tracks something beyond than enjoyable and delightfull, "The Machine that won the war" is even more intense, heavy and actually dense in some new guitar riffs provided by the new element added.

Sheavy deserves a better place and a major sucess , this can be achieved with the proper promotion , record distribution and most important, the proper support from a record company for touring, I intend here writting this lines to contribute a little, Sheavy have plenty of potential for stardom, all those Sabbath lovers have to check them soon.
