Customer Reviews of This Album/CD

Consistent
Submitted on: 2009-07-21
I have purchased all of Rahsaan's cd's and I play all from end to end frequently. Few artists are able to deliver with his consistency and few have crafted so many great tunes. I'm biased, but highly recommend Wines and Sprits and you will agree that there is No Danger in buying this dc.

Rahsaan's Craft/Artistry Appreciated

Rahsaan Patterson is a part of the neo-soul movement. Although he made his debut on the scene and remained consistent around the same time as folks like Erykah Badu, Maxwell, D'Angelo, he remains one of the underdogs. Rarely discussed, very few radio plays, minimal acknowledgment, but a die-hard, cult, underground following, Rahsaan proves on this CD that he is a musical force to be reckoned with. In this era of pre-packaged, re-packaged and packaged artists, Rahsaan brings to R&B and music in general, what a true artist is. This is my first CD by Rahsaan. While I did not care for it from the snippets and my first time listening to it, after 2 or 3 listens, it quickly grew on me.

Standout Tracks:
Delirium (Comes and Goes)--This song is weird, but the arrangement/theme of the song go hand-in-hand for a fun, contemplative song.

No Danger--I can see this going over well with the 35+ club; although I am still a ways away from that age. It has a sophistication and maturity to it that while sounding dated, it still works.

Pitch Black--A dark, thought-provoking song that is missing from R&B.

Stop Breaking My Heart--Probably the most Rahsaan-sounding song, or what we come to expect from him.

Overall, this CD is great, and I look forward to getting all 3 of his previous releases. It is a great introduction to the craft of Rahsaan.
Never heard of R. Patterson but now I love him!

My friend at work let me listen to his CD. The 1st time around I'm like it's good but the second time around I fell in love with it and immediately ordered it threw Amazon. Can't wait to received it! Happy New Year to me.
Time Evolves...then a new one appears....

It is no secret that as time evolves, our FAVORITES fade away, making way for the "new blood". If you look at music from long ago, you can recognize that people such as: Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson and Etta James have been replaced with similar sounds of the NEW GENERATION. For instance, Beyonce is nothing but a young Tina Turner, Solange's style favors Diana Ross, Jazmine's style is similar to Lauren Hill, Chris Brown's style reminds me of Tevin Campbell. I have even heard parts of Llyod that remind me of Michael Jackson. Kesha Cole is Mary J. Blige, Neyo is Usher and Robin Thicke compares to Maxwell. Never in my wildest dreams would I think that ANYONE AT ALL COULD COMPARE TO PRINCE....well this NEW BLOOD, RAHSAAN PATTERSON, has a strong bearance to prince. Listen to his style, words, flow and even beats, rhythms and tones. He is coming up right behind Prince and may be the person to replace him after Prince decides to retire.

Music is forever and I appreciate some of these artists so much because they keep the "old school" trend flowing with their style and patterns; keeping music of YESTERDAY FRESH so that it will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.

This is a nice album.
