Rain Without End Submitted on: 2007-04-15 |

| If you have gotten this far then you need to know about their first album "Rain Without End". The five starts i gave were for Rain Without End, although Grey Dawn is pretty good. Rain Without End is one of the greatest metal cds ever made. If you like Dance of December Souls, or Brave Murder Day, then Rain.. is the Holy grail. |

EXCELLENT melodic death/doom Submitted on: 2004-05-17 |
|
| Why this album isn't talked about more often in melodic death and doom circles is beyond me. As a fan of both Doom metal and Melodic Death metal, i can say that this gem covers probably my favorite aspects of both. It's got the depressing, dark atmosphere of doom metal, with the twin (sometimes triple heh) harmonized and melodic leads and riffs of melodic death metal. It does lean more in the direction of melodic death metal than doom, but i've NEVER heard melodic death sound so bleak! The only thing i've heard somewhat similar would be Eucharist's album Mirrorworlds or Godgory's Ressurection. Comparisons to Katatonia are inescapable, so i guess i'll do that as well hehehe... this sounds like what would have happened if Katatonia had kept following the direction of Brave Murder Day and began to incorporate melodic death into the music. A highly reccomended purchase for those who find most melodic death a little too much of the same, but still enjoy the style. Top songs: Grey Dawn, Lost In The Dark, Sweetness Dies. |

This is the most beautiful music that my ears ever hear!!! Submitted on: 2004-01-04 |

| I have this album on the Top of my CD collections. I have never heard any other album from any band sound like this. I can't descript what's inside with letters, you must hear it to understand. it's a piece of art. I'm very sad with these 2 members of Katatonia that they make only these 2 albums :( and I dream a day (hope) that they will come back and greate more albums like this one! I write this and i hope that some day this 2 members of Katatonia read this. |

Melancholic sounds Submitted on: 2003-09-24 |
|
| October Tide was a side project of two members of Katatonia. Their first album, "Rain Without End" was brilliant. Dark, depressing and gloomy. Then "Grey Dawn" came out and though it does not surpass the debut, this album has amazing music. The voice is a dark growl, but not an agressive one like say Cannibal Corpse, but its more of a sad, heartfelt wail. The guitars are slow, and everytime the sound comes out of the speakers, it gets dark, cold and gloomy. If you like anything from the Cure, to Candlemass, you will enjoy this album, but good luck trying to get this one or "Rain without End" its almost impossible. Please, guys from Katatonia, if you ever read this, can you please make another album? I have never heard anything like October Tide..dont let it die. |

Excellent Melodies, Riffs, and Drums Submitted on: 2000-01-04 |
|
| I'm more of a power metal fan (Iron Maiden, Nevermore, Iced Earth, etc), but Octobier Tide is one of my most prized posessions. This album sounds A LOT like Morningrise (Opeth). The riffs and melodies are captivating, and the drum beat will get your head moving to the music. If you like growled vocals, this is a sure buy for you! |
