I love it Submitted on: 2009-04-21 |

| Juan Luis Guerra is my favorite singer, and I live in the Dominican Republic. I love his songs, both the music and the lyrics. If you listen to the lyrics of his songs, you will notice that they are written by someone with a very good -- superior -- knowledge of the arts, especially music and poetry. |

Dominican Love Fest Submitted on: 2008-07-24 |

Juan Luis Guerra is steadily earning recognition as a major artist who transcends the meringue and salsa music he plays so well and creates universally beautiful and joyful music for a world audience. This collection of his love songs is a great introduction to his work. These are artfully written songs with profound lyrics, and you can dance to most of them. What else can you say? For one thing,he writes about deep, spiritual love, not just sex, and he doesn't seem to have a sour note or mean bone in his body. For English speakers, this is also a good way to improve your Spanish and learn some colorful Dominican terms for birds, voodo charms, herbs, tropical trees and other lovely things. |
