| Regardless of what anyone says above, this cd is awesome. Anything Baje One touches is awesome. The guy has such a different and really honest sounding style of flowing, and he comes up with really amazing songs and phrases. This is one of those albums where you get stuck listening to what the MC has to say because it's so smart and well written that before the next line starts, you're still figuring out the visuals and message in the last sentence. He's laid back, really easy flowing, the beats follow the style really well. You wont find any stereo bumpers on this cd, but if you're buying to be enlightened by some sick flows and passionate mc's, than pick up this cd. |

...And call me in the morning Submitted on: 2008-06-13 |

Junk Science is another DJ/rapper combination that I was introduced to on HipHopSite. I didn't get a chance to hear their first album, but I decided to get my hands on their sophomore release, Gran'dad's Nerve Tonic.
Highlights include "That Being Said", "Jerry McGuire" (if you can't tell what that song's a reference to, borrow a brain) and "Glass House". In fact, the only real complaints I have are that three versions of "Do It Easy" aren't necessary, and the skits really don't do much more than take up time. That, and I couldn't get into "Hey". But I still wouldn't mind having another dose of this nerve tonic.

| This is by far the worst album released by Def Jux since Party Fun Action Committee. I'm a huge fan of Def Jux and buy everything they put out, but I held off on this one because I borrowed their last album Feeding Einstein from my brother and was less than impressed with it, so naturally I wasn't really looking forward to this one. Well I stumbled on a promotional video online with Cool Calm Pete's song from this album and I really liked it and decided I may need to actually check GNT. So I've had this for a couple of days, and as much as I wanted to not hate this, I can't help it because it's really boring and weak. I just expect more from Def Jux than stuff like this, and have a hard time understanding why they thought releasing these guy's record was a good move. They even promoted this harder than Rob Sonic's record which came out the same time as this one, and IMO was a hundred times more dope and interesting than this collection of mediocre songs. There's a few things about this record that save it from being completely worthless, like the production. The beats are fairly interesting, but if you compare the best beats off this album to some of the worst in the DJX catalog they just don't cut it. Also, on the back of my copy it claims that there's additional material for computer users such as bonus instrumentals, but my CD doesn't appear to have any extras at all. I may be judging this album too harshly, but again I expect far better material than this from Definitive Jux. I just don't get into songs from other dudes rapping and singing about sh()t like sitting around in their underwear. Oh, my copy also came with a beer coaster, which is funny because that's what I use the CD for also. |

Very Entertaining DEF JUX entry for its price Submitted on: 2008-03-02 |

Hard to determine what to compare this CD too. Very underground, like most its def jux roster, this duo has come with creative flow over rare and bizarre beats that compliment these tracks. And the price was very affordable (but I won't say how much I bought it for).
