Seriously this is BS... Submitted on: 2009-09-24 |

Can't say I've heard this ripoff of an artist, but she should do some research before copping a nickname, as there already was a band called Devil Doll. What's wrong, did some other hack-job already (re)use Betty Page's name?
On another note, I haven't actually LISTENED to this artist, but never will because anyone who doesn't even bother to search Amazon.com for a band name before stealing it doesn't need to be bothered with. For a taste of the REAL Devil Doll, check out the undefinable epic horror masterpiece "The Girl Who Was ...Death" available on Amazon.com right below this loser-face. |

This not real Devil Doll. Sure, this Colleen girl uses the anme Devil Doll for her band, but she is a fraud. The real Devil Doll is one of the most genial bands ever, lead by the great musician Mr. doctor is. Buying this is an insult to him and everything he represents.
Would you buy an album by an emo band that called themselves "The Ramones"? Or a hip-hop group called "The Beatles"? No, of course you wouldn't. So why do you buy an album by this bunch of fakers. |

Another winner from Devil Doll Submitted on: 2009-03-31 |

She packs her CD's with one great song after another. Not just one or two good ones and a bunch of filler. I think I might like her first album a little better, but I'm still giving this one 5 stars. I like her take on 'Doreen' on this album better than the original Old 97's version - and I'm a big Old 97's fan.
I notice one of the tags offered on this review is 'explicit lyrics.' She does toss in a few now and then, so think about who else is in the car with you before you throw it in the CD player. |

More Style Than Substance Submitted on: 2009-02-16 |

| Highly stylized retro rock 'n' roll with overly familiar sounding melodies that are redeemed by witty and often humorous lyrics and heartfelt performances. |

I don't know what's up with the reviews on this CD, seems as if there was some confusion in the beginning. This is a review for Colleen Duffy's devil doll.
Devil Doll is a marinade of wonderful styles. I love the torch song/rockabilly/Punk/Country sound.
The seductive torch like crooning mixed with the straightforward upright bass thumping rockabilly sound and razor sharp punk-like lyrics is a feast for the ears!
My fav tracks are "Fever", "Queen of the road" and especially "Sexy".
While this is a GREAT CD it has a large country flavor to it,
I still like the first CD "Queen Of Pain" better. It has more torch song influences which I prefer. |
