I saw these guys live in Atlanta. If you have a chance to see them, do it. I was not familiar with them before they played. They put on a spectacular show. I talked to Scott Carney, the singer/guitarist, afterwards and he was a very nice guy. The band hails from Louisville, Kentucky.
This whole album is mint. It combines that typically hard-to-pin-down indie rock sound with David Gilmour-esque guitar solos, kazoos, and whistling. Carney's voice could be in theater. His sound and delivery is similiar to Styx frontman Dennis DeYoung, but much, much more pleasant on the ears. I can maybe listen to thirty seconds of a Styx song. I could listen to this album on loop for hours. Wax Fang set the bar for a quality album and an enertaining live show. Well done boys. |
