great album Submitted on: 2009-07-25 |

| This album was around my house since I was 11 years old. I think it was bought and given to my younger brother and inevitiably, I heard this through the walls and it grew on me. I have very good taste in music-I like to think and I love the Beatles and the Doors etc and I also write songs and play several instruments. With that in mind and in my humble opinion, this album is very well written and arranged. For years, when I was home from college, I had to wait till everyone in my family was not home to get this album out and crank it. There is nothing hard rocking about it-it's just well done. David Cassidy's voice was perfect for this type of music and I think this is by far the best of Wes Farrell and company did. I met David Cassidy about 1991 and I asked him about one of the songs on this album "Morning Rider on the Road" and he said "wow, I haven't thought of that song in years". He sounded sincere and I hope he realized he had touched someone in the way that every aspiring musician wants to touch their listeners. I now own the CD version and this music has stood the test of time. I've heard other Partridge Family albums and they just don't compare. The writing wasn't as fresh on later releases and more than anything, Cassidy's vocal delivery was better during this time period. |

Bubblegum from the "pyschedelic" era.... Submitted on: 2009-01-14 |
|
This is another gem by the beloved Partridge Family, and it's still pretty cool to listen today. It peaked at #3 on the charts, stayed at the #3 spot for four weeks, and spent a year on the album chart. So 1971 wasn't all total pyschedelic music. There was bubblegum in the air back in those days.
I'll Meet You Halfway, Doesn't Somebody Want to be Wanted, and the silly, yet really enjoyable Umbrella Man are here. David Cassidy's vocals are really quite good here, more powerful than on the first album. He's also on every track (some of the songs on the first album he didn't sing on). I really dig this album, and it's a great follow up to their first album (which I think is their best).

Quality Teen Pop Music Submitted on: 2008-10-13 |
|
This was the second release from the infamous Partridge Family. For not being a real group, at this stage much thought was given into the quality and eclectic styles of the songs recorded. David Cassidy had great vocals to carry these tracks. I was a teen at the time this was released and I think that even though this music is "bubblegum pop" it also is fun, infectuous and well produced. It stands the test of time and I am very greatful the albums are on cd like this, remastered with excellent sound quality. There are also very informative liner notes.
The hit here was DOESN'T SOMEBODY WANT TO BE WANTED but there are many standouts here. I'LL MEET YOU HALFWAY, LAY IT ON THE LINE, UMBRELLA MAN, THAT'LL BE THE DAY, SHE'D RATHER HAVE THE RAIN and I'LL LEAVE MYSELF A LITTLE TIME are all quality pop songs.
This cd is highly entertaining. For all of you who grew up with this music it is a must have. You will still enjoy it and the price and remastering make it an excellent addiition to your music collection. |
