Paul Thorn - great songwriter Submitted on: 2009-03-17 |

| Paul Thorn is coming to Ann Arbor for a show at The Ark (fabulous place to hear music) & I wanted to check out his music before deciding to get tickets. I'm sold (in fact, I'm taking 7 people with me). He is a terrific songwriter - the lyrics are smart, clever and easy to sing along with :-) His style varies on this CD from quiet to rock and it's been fabulous to listen to - great road trip music. Live show in 2 weeks - exciting. |

File under "O" for Obscure Submitted on: 2009-02-28 |

| The definition for obscure is "not clear or plain; uncertain". Is not that strange that is the record label name? I own all of PT's recordings. This one and "Are You With Me" get played the least. I'm sick of love songs. I want Groucho Marx with a guitar. I want "Mission Temple Fireworks Stand", "Burn Down The Trailer Park", "Mood Ring", "800 Pound Jesus", "Sister Ruby's House Of Prayer". I want Frank Zappa poking fun on "Have I Offended Someone"? I know PT has to feed his family, but I want the old sarcasm & cynisism back. Don't be afraid to voice your opinion PT, especially if it's an unpopular one. I piss people off everyday but they manage. I also heard you on a radio show 8 or 9 years ago. You played acoustic blues - & it was great. How about an unplugged blues album? Tell us what is wrong with the present state of affairs. Don't fall into obscurity. |

A Long Way From Tupelo Submitted on: 2008-08-08 |

| This guy is for real. His sound is unpretentious, gutsy and leaves me with the desire to only hear more...not too much...but enough to savor. Well worth the price of admission! |

| Bluesy, gutsy, singable. I really like his voice and the stories in his songs. I had heard a couple of the songs on the local public radio station, and it is nice to hear those. But the other tracks are what make the disc. I especially like the lyric "Everybody kisses the right one goodbye". Spoke to me. |

Nothing special Submitted on: 2008-06-30 |

| This was my first and last Paul Thorn album for me. I had several friends speak highly of his music......guess this is not the album they have. Won't waste my time or money again on him. |
